Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Arthur Anderson, agreed to a $12,500 fine for five violations associated with a $25,000 campaign loan from his wife in his 2004 election campaign to unseat Theresa LePore.

Anderson called the consent order, allowing him to avoid an administrative hearing and up to $107,000 in penalties in addition to legal fees, a "business decision."
"It wasn't practical to continue the process, although I do feel as well that we would have had a good chance to prevail on my side," Anderson said Friday.
LePore, whom Anderson attacked for her role in the 2000 butterfly ballot design and choice of electronic voting equipment, said she felt "vindicated," by the deal.
"My only hope is that he's had 11 months in office now and hopefully he understands the law better," LePore said.
