Why Liberman can't be president

Here is why I think Liberman can't be president:

Libertarians and Republicans would be pissed off at him because he wants to raise the taxes on the wealthy. I think they are really against class warfare more than Democrats are. But this is the same plan of other Democrats. Do you think this will be a negative factor or positive one?

The anti-war people hate him.

1. He accuses Dems of waffling on issues, yet he cautioned the party about

engaging in "class warfare."

All of a sudden, Joe's "tax the rich" mantra becomes the centerpiece of his campaign.

2. Lieberman is why Gore lost

It is not because he was Jewish or because he was for/or against or is for class warfare. He (Gore) lost because Lieberman was viewed as too conservative in 2000 and changed his positions on everything.

Lieberman cant win now because he is still changing his positions
on everything.


Now do I think taxes should be raised on the wealthy?? Yes. But I just don't see it working for him. He simply is not believable.

3. I have read that

because of his Jewish faith, he would not be able to be a non-partisan president. He would most certainly take sides, and it would out of necessity be in favor of Israel. This could inflame muslim antagonism.

... imho the I/P conflict, and Muslim antagonism, are not the deciding factors in this election. being a pro-Israel partisan seems to be a fairly popular position these days. in fact it sometimes looks like there is only very little room for variation in the degree of enthusiasm that a viable candidate is required to show.

i consider myself to be very sympathetic to the Palestinian cause, at least compared to most Americans, yet i am not willing to make this my litmus test for a candidate. it's one issue, it's an important issue, but i don't think it's THE most important issue on the president's plate. frankly i'm more concerned with how the next president will treat our domestic problems than foreign ones. the Palestinians have had to live with hostile US regimes before, and the odds are good they'll have to live with another one.

so, although it is not something that attracts me, i'd question how much Lieberman's pro-Israel bias has hurt him.

to push for raising taxes on the wealthy and certainly is NOT class warfare to do so. 'Class warfare' is a term usually used by the wealthy to justify their greed.
