At least I think is the first, the folks at <http://www.airliners.net/> seem pretty jazzed about it.

2. Actually there have been tons of A-380 pics on Airliners...
They are sending the plane around the world on trial and certification flights. They fly it somewhere and send it back to Toulouse to have the schemes changed - they are mocking it up in the colors and logos of the launch customers when it goes visiting to that particular country.

4. Do you know if they have the finished interior inside, or is...
...it just an empty shell?

6. There is a small finished interior section on the upper deck...
It's where the engineers and techs sit when they are flying the plane somewhere. The rest of the plane is either empty or set up with all kinds of data-collecting computers, equipment, etc...

3. That is one BIG honkin' airplane!
Unfortunately, it's not going to balance out the 2500 preorders for microjets that are being certified next year...

5. That plane is quite impressive!
And IIRC, it's much more environmentally friendly to fly one large plane than 2 smaller planes. Maybe we have less choice on flight times, but the impact is less.

7. The A380 and the Typhoon. Two new standards in air travel, built in Europe
They are setting the standard for a new generation, and I feel proud they were built in th EU.

Emirates orders 42 Boeing 777s

Sun Nov 20, 2005 07:07 AM ET

DUBAI (Reuters) - Airline Emirates (EMAIR.UL: Quote, Profile, Research) placed a $9.7 billion order for wide-bodied Boeing Co. (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research) 777 planes on Sunday in a deal that kicked off the Dubai air show and underscored the Gulf's surging airlines sector.

The deal for 42 planes included 10 777-200LR, 24 777-300ER, eight of the 777 freighter version and Emirates Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum told reporters the airline had agreed to take purchase rights for a further 20.

Boeing has now sold 106 of the twin-engined long-range 777 this year, one short of its best result, as high fuel prices spur sales of twin-engined versus four-engined models.

Or these too:

I just wonder if Emirates is getting a bit too over extended, I hope they have the money to pay for all these jet. I wonder what would happen if they failed to pay for all of them when the bills come due?
