My group and I have an idea on how to respond to Jean Schmidt
Were going to start a simple email and letter campaign and ask her to volunteer for the marine corp.

Please help us out

Sample letter.

Dear Honorable Schmidt,

It is very easy to send someone to die in a war when you have not served. I believe it your patriotic duty to address the great wrong you have committed upon calling a verified decorated war hero a "coward". You can address this by you youself joining the marines and showing all of us by example what a brave and patriotic citizen should act like.

Here is their website.

I would appreciate you letting me know your response.

thank you.

------Mail, email and telephone information ----

The Honorable Jean Schmidt

Washington, D.C. 20515-3502

Another area we are starting in.
----------------------------------------------------------
We also are going to start targeting pro-war politicians with Balloon-ins. Everyday were going to take a hundred balloons each with the face, name and date of death of a service man in Iraq and give them to the office managers for that politician. We will continue with each politician until all 2083+ faces of dead americans have been given to them.

Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 04:58 PM by noiretblu
in a speech to describe the graves of american soliders..."glorius graves" :puke: it would great if you could toss that back at her too.

5. Seems as though they've changed her web site to preclude this.
When I tried to enter the site, I got this when I entered my zip code. (I could have lied about my zip code, but that goes against my ethics.)

Zip Authorization Failed

We're sorry, but you are not in our district. Access to the requested form is denied, the zip code which you entered does not provide access to this form.

Note: To find out who your representative is use the House of Representative's site and conduct a search. Or, if you think you have reached this page in error and would like to re-enter your zip code, use your browser's BACK function to return to the previous page and enter a different zip code.

7. These are good tactics!
I also think that a "pincer" approach would be useful. It's easy to get lots of us to send her rants, but if a few of us, and maybe some fairly liberal Republicans, were to send reasoned and non-inflammatory messages, she and her staff would focus on them as a relief from the influx of (well-deserved) screeds. If there is any chance that she could be dissuaded from her hate-filled stock Republican approach, this could do it.

Such an approach is not guaranteed to work, but if we turn even a few of these ratbags from their evil ways, it will be worth it. Reformed sinners have much more credibility at the revival meeting.

What sayest thou? :)

9. Even better, ask her to guarantee that her daughter will sign up as
soon as she is old enough to serve. I saw a family portrait here on DU last night. Looks like she has a teen daughter who is probably 18 or close to it.

10. "Dear Honorable Schmidt"
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 05:15 PM by notsodumbhillbilly
The correct salutation would be Dear Congresswoman Schmidt.

13. You can throw her hypocrisy in her face
From her maiden speech in the House:

"I pledge to walk in the shoes of my colleagues and refrain from name-calling or the questioning of character. It is easy to quickly sink to the lowest form of political debate. Harsh words often lead to headlines, but walking this path is not a victimless crime. This great House pays the price."

Jean Schmidt, criminal. In her own words.

14. How about sending her postcards with a dead serviceperson's photo on the
front? The faces of the fallen are all over the net--it would be easy to make one up, and send her a note saying "Easy for you to demand sacrifice, when you don't have to go"--and add the name of the member, their age, and date of death, and maybe how they died.

I like postcards to communicate with the Hill, for several reasons: they are short, sweet, and simple, you can give the member of Congress a quick VISUAL that sums up how you feel, and they are delivered PROMPTLY, because they do not have to go through all the anthrax letter screening, that can delay a letter for over two weeks.

Here's one for the chimp:

20. Freepers on Schmidt are just nauseous. Its hard to believe any of them
really think themselves to be christians.

Before anyone complains about me wasting my time on the freeper board, I got their by googling "jean schmidt transcript." They were thumping their chests about how great she is for calling a former decorated VN war veteran a coward. I wonder how our current war heroes are going to be treated by these repukes in the future, like this?? Here is a sample, talking about the dems in congress:

"If they vote against it, then they have to STFU with all this bad-mouthing they're doing out on the street.

I want to see their corpses left for the carrion and their names blotted out forever."

Nice, huh? I wonder what church he'll be praying in on Sunday?
