Ken Blackwell
Bob Ney
Mike DeWine
John Kasich
Bob Taft
Jean Schmidt

I'm beginning to look at Ohio as the asshole of America. And it use to be a good middle of the road reasonable thinking place. WTF, Sorry to all the Ohio DU'ers, but What Gives?

4. Come down here and give us a hand, then?
By the way, The Asshole of America just beat your beloved Michigan Blue, 25-21.

He's a hometown hero in Youngstown, OH. I also wanted to add to your list - how can anyone forget Jim Traficant!

8. In all seriousness though, it's not the whole state.
Cleveland seems to have its act together, along with most of northern Ohio.

Even Franklin County (Columbus) went for Kerry in '04.

The trouble is southwestern Ohio, notably the corner just south of Dayton all the way to the Ohio River, and the rural counties that surround Cincinnati. This area of the state needs a shake-up, and believe me, we're working our pants off to make it happen.

We almost beat Schmidt. Almost. In the most conservative district in Ohio.

Do consider lending us a hand (or some $$$) for '06?

9. You left out a couple...
Deborah Price, Betty Montgomery and Jim Pietro.

And then don't forget the coin dealer and GOP campaign worker Tom Noe and his wife Bernadette.

My guess is that they are not really from Ohio, with the exception of Bob Taft of course. His grandfather William H. is probably pissing in his grave.

We raise heroes here in Ohio, people like:

Thomas Edison inventor, Milan
Orville Wright inventor, Dayton
Annie Oakley markswoman, Darke County

Neil Armstrong astronaut, Wapakoneta
John Glenn astronaut, senator, Cambridge

William Tecumseh Sherman army general, Lancaster
George Armstrong Custer army officer, New Rumley
Judith Resnik astronaut, Akron
Eddie Rickenbacker aviator, Columbus

James Abram Garfield U.S. president, Cuyahoga County
Ulysses Grant U.S. president, Point Pleasant
Warren Gamaliel Harding U.S. president, Morrow County
Rutherford Hayes U.S. president, Delaware
Benjamin Harrison U.S. president, North Bend
William McKinley U.S. president, Niles
William H. Taft U.S. president

Paul Newman actor, Cleveland
Doris Day singer, actress, Cincinnati
Clark Gable actor, Cadiz

Erma Bombeck columnist, humorist, Dayton
Hugh Downs TV broadcaster, Akron
Ted Turner broadcasting, Cincinnati
Lowell Thomas commentator, author, Woodington

Jack Nicklaus golfer, Columbus

I'm sorry I came back to this thread so late.

That is an inspirational list and a credit to Ohioans. Thank you for that.

I'd like to add a few of my favorite world-class athletes from Ohio:

Jesse Owens, Olympic Gold Medalist - Cleveland, Ohio
Mike Schmidt, Baseball Hall of Fame - Kettering, Ohio
Edwin C. Moses, Olympic Gold Medalist - Dayton, Ohio

12. Don't forget...
Ohio's number on claim to fame on TV is that idiot Drew Cary.

When I think of Ohio, I think of that idiot.

I think he must run their elections, no?

Seriously, I know what you're saying but that's more than a little offensive to Ohioans...
