Local Gannett rag, lead is raise, no tax cuts action not Iraq votes
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 02:49 PM by Gloria
except for a part of an AP story...The main part of the story was about how they raised their salaries! The mentioned a contentious vote and quoted Meehan saying "You guys are pathetic" in the second paragraph (1st was the $3100 raise and the postponment of spending cuts and tax cuts in favor of a two-week vacation.)

That was it, page three, left column, single column healine reading:

Capitol Hill
Congress gets raise, no action on taxes

After the second paragraph mention of the Iraq votes, the story said the Patrio Act renewal remained in limbo; then back to the House and Senate being in session until after midnight on Thursday working on the tax and deficit cutting bills; another paragraph quoting Hastert on this, and the last paragraph back to the cost of living increase which marked a "brief truce" in the battles.

A total non-story on the Iraq doings.....This is a military area of NM, surrounded by White Sands and Ft. Bliss....
