A Question About a right-wing talking point re: Clinton/bin Laden
I have helped open a friend of mine's eyes regarding Bush, but she still occasionally mentions RW memes regarding terrorism. Last night, she insisted that Clinton had gotten bin Laden, but left him on the tarmac. I had never heard this one. Could someone go into more detail and explain what this is and where it comes from? I of course called BS and asked if she got that from Ann Coulter or O'Lielly.

1. Should I repost this in the 9/11 Forum?
I just don't want this question to get lost in a sea of tinfoil.

2. She might be referring to this
http://mediamatters.org/items/200406220008

then there's this:

"Steve Coll, in his recently published book "Ghost Wars," says that the Clinton administration at one time planned to seize bin Laden at Tarnak Farm but never carried out the mission, in part over concerns about killing innocent women and children, as well as legal disagreements within the administration."

and

"In 1998, President Clinton ordered cruise missile strikes on suspected terrorist training camps in eastern in Afghanistan where intelligence suggested bin Laden might be. In the time it took for the cruise missiles to reach their target, officials say bin Laden moved to another location. That attack killed at least 21 Pakistanis, but missed bin Laden."

this was retalliation for the al-Qaeda embassy bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. It was also when he attacked the "pharmaceutical factory" in Sudan (per Richard Clarke, on the intelligence that it was producing VX nerve gas for Iraq).

4. And the 'pukes called it "wagging the dog"
Investigating Monica's blue dress was more important to them than protecting the country.

5. As I recall, the Repukes refused to allocate anti-terror funding
how can they EVER say that they have the best interests of our country at heart?
