Question: Did the Repubs use up all their veterans in the "debate?"
I wasn't aware so many Republicans had the guts to do more than send other people's kids to fight for their corporate donor's interests.

1. Yes - including the ones that are senile. They also

3. I watched it, no critic my RANT!
Finish their mission…..

Who are “they” and what is “their” mission? According to Republican talking points our brave military should :

1. Protect us from Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction.
Ummm…..since the said weapons were proven to be nonexistent……
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED……BRING OUR TROOPS HOME!
2. Fight them over there so we do not have to fight them over here.
Ummm…We were right to take out the Taliban but, since Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11/2001….
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED……BRING OUR TROOPS HOME!
3. Spreading Democracy to the Middle East……
Ummm…… Can you say Saudi Arabia “Absolute Monarchy”, Pakistan “Military Dictatorship”, Iraq has had two “free” elections since they were “liberated”. Where are those flowers and chocolates?
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED……BRING OUR TROOPS HOME!

Mr. Bush keeps changing the mission. Support our troops, Impeach Bush!

4. Well said!
And welcome to DU! :toast:

Very similar thoughts were going through my mind, and I bet through the minds of most who were watching.

One downside to having on ly Murtha speak is that surely someone else on the Dem side would have lashed into them for their brazen hypocrisy.

5. The Representative from Connecticut, I have a question for him.
He talked about how "demoralizing" it was for him when he was in Vietnam when he found out that the Vietnam war was being criticized by members of Congress. Before the war on Iraq, has he ever made a statement on the record since he returned from that war in which he expressed similar comments?

What did he say about Clinton and Kosovo? Does anyone know?

It sounded like he was regurgitating Kool-Aid to me.

6. And I thought he was projecting his own personal...
fears at the time, onto our current troops. Does anyone serving in Iraq really think that we will pull out and leave them there??!?

7. One token soldier.
His words sounded false to me. I really don't believe he meant them. That's why I'd like to know his history and whether he's ever said anything until it was convenient.

To the Repubs, "support the troops" means buying them a sturdy body bag. I am so disgusted with this charade.

8. I can't remember his name.
Buyer, by the way, was another one full of shit and wind, trying to pretend Bush's war equals WWII. Didn't that give Murtha the opening to point out that WWII succeeded because it was based on planning!

Anyway, if we knew the CT asshole's name, we'd all be googling now.

9. I found it. His name is Robert Simmons.
Found him at http://www.vote-smart.org and confirmed it's him because he mentioned being CIA.

Colonel, Military Intelligence Officer, United States Army Reserves, 1970-2003

Visiting Lecturer, Associate Fellow, Yale College, 1986-1995

Staff Director, United States Senate Intelligence Committee, 1981-1985

Staff, Senator John H. Chafee, United States Senate, 1979-1985

Operations Official, Central Intelligence Agency, 1969-1979

United States Army, Vietnam, 1965-1968.

Yeah, I just bet this guy is on the side of the troops, uh-huh. Did he see combat, or was he behind a desk planning military operations?
