I want the Democrats to vote "yes" for PEACE
I want them to stand up for their beliefs. For my beliefs.

I want an end to this war that Republicans started under false pretenses. If they want to call it cutting and running, that's fine. For them it is.

For me it is the righting of a great wrong. When this war ends, I will hold my head high, because I have opposed it with all my might every single day since the first pre-emptive strike, the first civilian casualty, the first dead American soldier.

I stand for PEACE. And I will stand proudly next to anyone in Congress who votes to end this war.

5. I am sick of playing politics, strategy games and brinksmanship
I don't think I can bear see Dems go on record twice as supporting Bush's war (even with fingers crossed behind their backs). This is breaking my heart.

I support. They have been hearing from me for 4 years demanding an end to this war. I have not changed my position.

The sham vote is irrelevant at this point and an unneeded risk for the Dems since there is no chance of success.

You are not seeing the need to have Dems in Congress in the future verses your need for a resolution - which was NOT Murtha's according to him. Why should the Dems vote for a joke resolution?

11. You do realize that if the dems voted yea they would still lose?
The stack is against them, at this time until more can be brought to the table, they must walk out and NOT vote period...

Otherwise we will lose all.

They hold all the power, we have none.

I think we should just let them have all the blood on their hands to go along with that power.

12. Vote On Priciple
The truth is the truth. Why play politics with peoples lives. Do we need to play politics so more can be shot, more tortured, more secret concentration camps, more chemical weapons on civilians?

Enough is enough, end it now.

40. It's not about conscience
If you've read any of my posts, you should recognize that I have no problem with such symbolic stands -- such as opposing a pre-ordained Supreme Court nominee on principle.

But in this particular case, there is no way to make a legitimate point by voting for a GOP mousetrap like that bill was.

20. Those of us who have 100% right all along will still be right
once our leadership votes once again against their own consciences.

Voting "no" on this resolution is supporting an illegal occupation. Anyone who votes twice to back a war they don't support are betraying themselves.

US House, in Republican tactic, defeats Iraq pullout
19 Nov 2005 04:17:20 GMT
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON, Nov 18 (Reuters) - In a maneuver designed to discredit Iraq war critics, the Republican-led House of Representatives overwhelmingly defeated a resolution on Friday to pull U.S. troops immediately from Iraq.

Republicans, who introduced the surprise resolution hours before lawmakers were to start a Thanksgiving holiday recess, said the vote was intended to show backing for U.S. forces.

Democrats denounced it as a political stunt and an attack on Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a leading Democratic military hawk who stunned his colleagues on Thursday by calling for troops to be withdrawn as quickly as possible.
