Are Our Senators So Out Of Touch in NOT getting info we already know??
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 04:58 PM by Whoa_Nelly
I just don't get it!!

During the drumbeat to war in Iraq, so many Americans KNEW/COULD PROVE the lies BushCo was using to "convince" the general public.

What I don't get is why so many senators only believed the information as compiled by the Bush administration and put before them prior to the senate vote that resulted in approving the pre-emptive strike on Iraq.

Are our senators so out of touch with gaining information on their own that we really have no true representation? Even Kerry believed the presented BS information and voted YEA. Where are the people/aides who should be keeping those who represent us up to date with the best possible information?

Or, am I just not being realistic and actually expecting more from those elected politicians than I have a reasonable right to do so?
(Am sarcastic regarding this last line, but am seriously beginning to believe that this may be the case, and we are so far beyond fucked when it comes to those who are supposed to be the guardians and watchdogs and representatives of the American people, yet show themselves to be ignorant, malleable and/or so narcissistic as to cause our nation's government to crumble even further into decay.)

1. It's Vietnam all over again
There's so much pork to be had, so many favors given and granted, so many strings attached to everything in Congress, the idea that a representative would vote his conscience in the face of absurd information is almost quaint.

No, you're not naive, and neither am I, although we both know better.

I do believe, though, that the Congress had NO idea that the Pentagon was so incompetent, that our troops were so badly prepared and equipped, or that Fuckface and his thugs hadn't any clue.

So, we all got hosed.

2. Doesn't matter. ALL intel was inoperable the moment weapon inspectors went
in and started reporting back with REAL TIME, ACCURATE INTEL from on the ground in Iraq from Jan 2003 through March.

What did Bush - ALONE - do with THAT REAL INTEL REPORTING?

3. well, it's entirely possible
that they were presented with much more distorted intel than made the MSM, but they can't discuss it openly (national security).

And, of course, the vote wasn't to approve pre-emptive strikes, or approve war, per se, though that's what *co went and did--they were given a couple inches and ran a couple miles instead.
