It sounds to me like something is happening today, but what. I've been on the road.

3. Dennis Hastert insulted the French. Again.

Nothing surprising, I'm sure. But in speaking to the Murtha issue, Hastert in a press conference today said that the wimpy Europeans who refuse to fight terrorists are now paying the price for that refusal, and he pointed to the civil unrest in France as a (ludicrous) example of his bullshit theory.

He said, "Look at the French, for example. They wouldn't fight terrorists with us, so now they're fighting terrorists in their own backyards. That's exactly what will happen here if we leave Iraq."

So, it's been a day of intense rhetoric. The House, in a Republican stunt designed to embarrass Murtha and get Democrats on the record, will have an up/down vote, scheduled for 7:00 pm, to immediately withdraw from Iraq.

Seriously, I thought my head was going to explode when he made his analogy. I imagine that, while a fat blowhard fuck, Hastert is a reasonably intelligent, informed man who knows full well that the civil unrest in France has shit to do with terrorism.

That's what I find so appalling about them... when they lie and mislead intentionally, their own constituents, and the American people, by spreading utter falsehoods like "what France is going thru right now is terrorism, and that's payback for not being our poodle."

And, Denny? Last time I checked, France was fighting terrorism alongside our troops. In Afghanistan. Of course you know this, and you know this blows away your French analogy, in the same way as the London bombings.
