21. Does it matter? - the 14 GOP votes on our side were not real - and would
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 02:17 AM by papau
have been lowered to 12 if the 2 Dems had voted.

This "release" of " pretend moderate" GOP votes after the margin is known is getting old.

8. Very true, they did an excellent job of fighting for the people..
except of course for the two missing in action, I hope what they received was worth the price they are sure to face one day for thier absence....

5. Please get a hold of your Senators NOW!
Our national forests given to the rich as a playground and for their commercial exploitation? We will leave our children and grandchildren nothing.

26. This was already passed in the senate
Well, sort of. The senate approved a more modest 35 billion cut. The house passed a different, more devastating cut. What will happen is the house and senate will go into conference and come out with a compromise bill that will be voted on again by both the house and the senate.

23. I sent my rep, Tom Cole-R, an e-mail tonight
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 02:29 AM by OKDem08
telling him exactly what I thought, not that it does any good. His response to my last e-mail on the Iraq war was a diplomatically worded 'here's what I think & I realize you disagree but who gives a flying f what you think' - paraphrased, of course.
OMG..I have a gold star now & I'm so proud to be a Democrat tonight.

9. Congress as 'infotainment' that's what happened tonight, I guess....
all show - no substance.

Reminds me of when I was younger and would watch the 'Roller Derby' on Saturday mornings....all pretend (but you weren't 'quite sure' if they were pretending)

...it's not funny, and nobody's laughing.

10. Any Idea Of The Repugnicans Who Jumped The Fence?
With that close of a vote...and two Democrats not accounted for, that means at least 10 Repugnicans had to have crossed over and voted with the Democrats. Anyone have any ideas? (Other than waiting to see the roll call vote in the morning)

Still...this was like pulling teeth...and this is just the start of the troubles for Blount. He's got until January to make things happen or he's gonna be steamrolled by his own party. Next year could be a very interesting one in the House...the worm may be turning.

If there was ever such a thing as a good loss...tonight was one.

20. I'm not sure that would have mattered
I mean, the Republicans would have strong-armed or convinced two more Repubs. to vote their way. The bill probably would have just been a little more bloated, that's all.

29. Question per tax cuts
there was discussion of new tax cuts being pushed - and that they might be included in this bill. Anyone know if they are included? Does this cut for the poor AND give to the rich?

27. More proof...
That anyone who thinks that Bush or the Republicans are impotent are SADLY mistaken.

Republicans still control both houses of congress and the white house.. Bush won't be a lame duck unless both houses of congress change hands..
