Richard Clarke - On The daily show. Awesome!
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 11:31 PM by fearnobush
He said the threat of WMD was a bogus argument from the get go since Saddam had lots of them in GWI and never used them on us as our troops were driving up his highways in 1991.

3. But did I hear him repeat the point that "Everyone thought he had WMD."?
That's not true. Was he speaking rhetorically. I was only half paying attention.

5. He said it was not true. If Saddam had them, he would have used them
against us during the first invasion under Poppy.

4. Clarke was Awesome!
That was the best segment! Clarke talking a little about his new book, "The Scorpion's Gate"..and a little about "cheneyisms"(whose laughing now, dick"). Clarke wants us out of Iraq, too.

snip~
"Richard Clarke, former White House counterterrorism chief and current ABC News consultant, has taken his first stab at fiction writing.

In "The Scorpion's Gate," Islamic fundamentalists take control in Saudi Arabia and the United States may be headed toward another war in the Middle East. The book is set five years in the future, and although it is a work of fiction, Clarke said it is not impossible that some of the events could become reality.

"The book intends to raise these issues, but I'm not giving odds that these things will happen," Clarke said. "As a matter of policy, for example, our country advocates democracy in the Middle East. That could lead to the overthrow of the Royal House in Saudi Arabia. If that country did become a republic, it's not clear that the good guys would be in charge. So while I'm not predicting the fall of the House of Saud, I am raising questions that would emerge if that were to happen."

6. I am so impressed with this man. His first book is quite an eyeopener
and he surprised me by how well he can write. He always knows EXACTLY what he wants to say and he doesn't waste words. God bless you, Mr. Clarke for having mercy on your readers. I also like the picture of him on the new book. His smirk cracked me up!!! This looks like such a great read. I can't wait to dig in.
