Did Chimpy lie or was he misled?
I'm series! :dunce:

I remember seeing articles in summer 2003 re CIA analysts who were pressured into giving "favorable" intelligence (and danged if I can find those articles nowadays, but I digress), etc., etc., and my take was that Cheney and Rove were cherry-picking the intel, and feeding it to Dictatertot. But hey, I could be wrong :+

Which do you think is more likely? That Chimpy was (mis)led by the nose, or that he was in the loop, and knew he was lying in his 2003 SotU speech, but thought no one would find out the truth?

Me, I can't believe that Dunderhead would be capable of that much analysis. Too many connecting neurons required. I tend to think he sticks to whatever script he's given by his "trusted advisors". After all, this is someone who depends on others to tell him what's in the newspapers.

Thoughts?

1. I Tend To Agree
Bush is a moron, a puppet. He was fed bullshit, and he spewed it out. Cheney is the guy who REALLY lied.

2. What makes Bush so dangerous (to himself) is that
he thinks he is both in control and well informed.

19. I'll third it.
Bush IS stupid, but he also lies. He needs help getting his lies organized, but he'll jump right in and knowingly tell them. He gets off on it, I'd guess.

If he was misled, he knows it now, and he has not fired anyone for misleading him, has he? That alone makes him complicit. His goose is cooked! I

13. Cheney and Bush need to be Impeached ASAP!
W isn't the brightest bulb on the Bush Regime tree but he is a devious, arrogant, revengeful jerk-off. He wanted to invade Iraq and demanded an excuse that the Amerikan people would go along with. The WMD Fraud was provided, The UN was bypassed and he was pleased. Whether it can be proven that he knew that the Intell about Iraq, WMD, ties to al Q. etc. were bogus is not necessary to start Impeachment.

9. Willingly lied and was willingly mislead IMO.
He is too dumb to understand it all, but he knows what he is doing is for the good 'ol boys holding the strings.

Pathetic how he acts the macho with all of his women advisors while doing exactly as he is told for the men in charge.

"Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —Chimpy, Sept. 17, 2002 .

Bush didn't lie...he was misled?
Seems to be popping up. Maybe Rush insinuated this today? Has Karl been busy again with his "strategery"?
Hey, it's simple.
The man knowingly lied.
Lied.
You don't have to be a genius to lie.
Yeah, he's dim-witted.
He's also a liar.

20. Wow, makes you feel all protected, doesn't it?
The guy who's in charge isn't really because people can fool him? Yeah, that's the kind of president we all want, especially when the alternative is a well-informed, articulate, experienced senator who even risked his ass in combat. Yeah, makes sense.

18. I tend to think both happened,
he was mislead by the corrupt/incompetent cabal that he chose as his advisers as to what would happen in Iraq and then he proceeded to lie to the American People thinking the ends justify the means.

If I had been Bush (and I shudder at the thought) the first red flag should have been when the man he trusted to search the entire nation over for the best possible Vice-President candidate, chose him self.

it doesn't matter. HE'S THE FREAKING (APPOINTED) pRES! (sorry for the shouting). It is his sorry ass's JOB to know what the hell is going on. Whether he was misled or not does not, IMVHO, matter. The bastard didn't give a damn about anything or anyone but his corporate buds (and OH, btw, where IS Ken Lay?????)

And, if I may, I welcome you to one of the last bastions of sanity (usually).

22. I responded your same question in another post...
I repeat it here, since you asked:

Sorry, I don't buy it. Not possible. I really don't know how anyone can give that turd a single benefit of the doubt. Did you even listen to the man when he was hawking his war just prior to the run up? The man was literally frothing at the mouth with anticipation over invading Iraq. I could see it in every fiber of his being... he wanted that war, and by God he was going to have it. Nothing would stand in HIS way... not Cheney, not Rumsfeld, but Bush made the final decision. If he didn't want troops going to war all he had to do was say so and it wouldn't have happened. But it did.

BUSH DID LIE TO GET HIS WAR! I'd bet my life on it!

27. He's a major part of the Cabal
He absolutely knew what was going on. He hides behind his "stupid" persona and relishes it. He has cultivated it well.

That being said, it was not his idea. He probably wouldn't bother to read the PNAC agenda much less understand it. But I firmly believe he was on board and promoted the invasion. Don't forget his obsession with besting Poppy Bush.

28. making a virtue out of INCOMPETENCE?!
Let's see how long the rest of us would last if we gave the "I was misled" excuse for a major screwup (even assuming it's one where nobody was killed -- unlike, say, Iraq).

If we're really lucky, they would laugh at us before giving us the pink slip.

29. I truly believe that Bush was misled because....
... He is stupid!

But......
He is still the president, so I hold him 100% responsible.

The senate gave him the loaded gun to point at Saddam so that he had something to bargain with. Saddam new that Bush could not do anything with out the senates approval. So Bush was suppose to point the gun at Saddam, but he did not have to go a pull the dam trigger!

Rule number two in gun safety:
Never point a loaded gun at anyone or anything unless you intend to use it.

Rule number one:
Always treat a gun as if it were loaded, even if you know it is not.
