A craaaaazy letter in today's Denver Post:
"Your editorial warns against investigation into the leak regarding possible secret prisons for terror suspects. You state that such discussions "could damage national security or the nation's image." You also state that Rep. Nancy Pelosi was "reasonable" to fire back with pushing for an inquiry into "possible manipulation of prewar intelligence."

Do you not understand that our enemies benefit from Pelosi's discussions of manipulating intelligence? Do we want our courageous soldiers in Iraq to hear the home talk on why we shouldn't be there?

Investigation into illegal leaks or into intelligence failures should continue but not be hyped and politicized.

Like it or not, we are at war with a powerful enemy. World opinion is vital to our success. Debate should continue but be tempered and sometimes adjourned to back rooms. What are our true priorities? Are we interested in our national image and the safety of our troops in Iraq? Or do our politics cause us to relish in embarrassing our government during a time of war at the expense of our national security?

Talk about misplaced priorities."

In other words "torture and secret prisons are okay, but for the love of the troops don't TALK about it! Everything is fine as long as nobody finds out."

This is what we're up against. The people who claim to have the moral high ground seem to think it's ok to do admittedly evil things as long as nobody finds out about them. It's not the torture that hurts our image, just talking about it. Oy.

1. Now you see
what we're up against. Pretzel logic from people who think torture is okay, IF YOU DON'T talk about it. Calling this the moral high ground is like saying "sewage is okay as long as you don't drink it."

2. I think the troops in Iraq know better than anyone that they're there
because of a lie.

11. The only one who don't is the ones who haven't departed on
their last flight.

3. Oy is right.
So, it is better to 'keep em down on the farm' than to risk telling them the truth? Any time is the right time for the truth. If these wackos didn't have anything to hide, they wouldn't be stonewalling every attempt to get to the bottom of this issue. They would be eager to put the issue to rest by simply proving their position with EVIDENCE, not using rhetoric, attacks and lies to prevent the American people (soldiers alike) from knowing WHY we are in Iraq.

Additionally, if world opinion is so vital, why didn't the losers in Washington try to garner some positive reaction before blowing the hell out of a foreign country without provocation???? They tried to hoodwink the rest of the planet, but they weren't biting. Flipping them the bird as we were dropping J-dams didn't F*$&# help anything, either. Take a look around, Junior: our image abroad is in the SHITTER. It HAS been since this war started.
McSmirky and the gang could not have cared any less about it, either. If they had, they would have put at least a half-assed effort into creating some positive PR, but all they've managed to do so far is swagger back into the UN and piss all over the other members who bothered to listen to the stream of crap spewing forth from the pie hole of McSmirky.

Talk about misplaced logic...

7. You know, we really need to get some tougher soldiers
If some people wondering whether they were sent to kill and die in service of a lie hurts them or their morale, I'd say our military personnel are a bunch of pussies.

In the last five years, I've had everything about me questioned, ridiculed, threatened, and in a couple of instances physically challenged. And yet, here I am, a limp-wristed, liberal pacifist pantywaist, still standing, still fighting, still working hard for what I know to be right and true. One of the things that I know to be right and true is that invading other countries and blowing up civilians is wrong. It's wrong for the Serbs to do it to the Croats; and it's wrong for the United States to do it to Iraq.

Can't handle that, soldier boy? Does it make you quiver with fear and wet your pants? Then fuck you. Get tougher, dude. Man up. Grow a thicker skin. Whatever it takes. And if whatever it takes includes throwing down your weapon and refusing to participate any longer in an international crime against humanity, I'll stand and fight right alongside you. You'll like being on my side, because I'm tough, I'm brave, and I'm loyal.

10. I saw that, too.
And that's the same point I got out of it. Go ahead and investigate, but don't tell anyone about it.

Sheesh.
