Here comes Tropical Storm Gamma
Right now it's a Tropical Depression (#27) with maximum sustained winds of 35mph. Once it gets to 39mph it'll be Tropical Storm Gamma. Lower right hand corner of this photo near the Windward Islands:

3. We never have
There are 21 reserved names per season.

We've exhausted those.

Fallback position is the greek letters.

Prior to this year, we've never gone that far. But we have now.

7. Most number of tropical depressions ever
most number of named storms ever.

Of course, records only go back to 1851, so that isn'[t saying a lot.

2. Silly observation
Anyone else notice that Katrina, Rita and Wilma all ended in an "a"? I was thinking, you know, this season we should have stopped naming the storms w/names ending in "a". Until someone mentioned, I think it's correct, that all the greek alphabet ends in "a".

12. Slim
It will probably become a tropical storm later today and hit Central America later in the week as either a Tropical Storm or a Tropical Depression.
