I consider this site the place for democrats, liberals and progressives,
so, my question is; Are we part of the poll numbers that show Hillary at 41% approval as the dem front runner for '08? I know that I've never been polled and if I were she would not be my choice. Who is responsible for all the hype? Who's making these poll numbers? I'm looking for legit answers if anyone's got some.

1. Name recognition? Clinton-nostalgia?
I got in BIG trouble at work for my opinion of Hillary, which I confess inappropriately involved the b-word. I have nothing to base it on but I just have a perception of her as a McCain type "climber" who kind of goes with the flow to get votes. If I could choose anyone as the Dem candidate for president it would NOT be her. She wouldn't even be in the top five, probably.

It should not matter, but it WILL matter that she is a woman--and not just any woman, but one the Clinton-haters will go ballistic to stop. And I don't think there's anything inherent in her to make it worth that fight.

3. Faux News
Faux News started these polls. I think they make them up. It's in their best interests, as well as those of the Repugs, if they start pushing her as the frontrunner. I hate to admit this feeling, and I'm a woman to boot, but it will be many years before this country elects a woman president and she will not be Hillary, who is widely hated and villified by repugs and many dems. By pushing her forward, they're positioning any Repug candidate to win.

4. Agreed.
I would love to see a female President. Just not Hillary. I'm ADFBH! (Any Democratic Female But Hillary)

5. That Rex Ray thing is so funny....
I think our next campaign should be equating the GOP with closeted self hating homosexuals. Nothing would anger them more. This would be great making bumper stickers and t-shirts tying christianity, republicans and closeted feelings about wanting to be with someone of the same sex. Can we start this movement?

7. I think it means that the Repugs have been hitting the polls hard
to get Hillary's name to the top. I really don't think Dems think she is the best we got.

8. Lieberman had the numbers early on last time
I never decide until I hear candidates actually make their cases.

Hillary has pandered to the religious and comes off as a "hawk". Plus, way back when she was a "Goldwater Girl", and someone I consider partially responsible for her hubby's welfare "reform" crap.

The more I hear from Edwards (ala Iraq) the more I lean towards him.
I am still wide open though!
