Miracle Headlines for Bush 11/11 : Key fugitive Saddam aide 'dead'
Edited on Fri Nov-11-05 04:57 PM by chill_wind
(I know what you're maybe thinking)

Key fugitive Saddam aide 'dead'
Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri on the US-issued pack of cards of most-wanted Saddam Hussein loyalists
Izzat Ibrahim was a key member of Saddam Hussein's circle
One of Saddam Hussein's closest aides, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, has died, Iraq's former ruling Baath party says.

"The leader of the resistance... died on 11 November, at 0220 ," the statement said. There is no independent confirmation.

Mr Douri, 63, was the most senior figure in the former regime still at large. The US had offered a $10m reward for information leading to his capture.

In recent years he was accused of financing insurgent groups in Iraq.

2. Hooray
I guess that means the insurgency is all over; thank goodness that's over. I know we give Bush a hard time, but i'm sure as good Americans we are all happy that we have finally and once and for all eliminated the Iraqi Insurgency. And now that this has happened we will all admit, of course, that Bush was compltely in the right from day one. Not only that, but his plan to eliminate Social Security is clearly the right move. I mean, what else could one conclude from this news?

Timing-wise. A nice present for Condi on her current visit, though.
"The leader of the resistance", no less. Note the hyperbole.

They can always go back and "be wrong" later if necessary. (It's not like they haven't been before. Fog of war and all that.)
