6. I could swear that's what I heard. Maybe he'll do a complete
story on it. I was reading DU and half listening to CNN. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last. ;)

7. YES, I head it too! Wolff definately said "DeLay may be trying to
work a deal to plead guilty to a misdemanor so he can keep his Leadership seat."

I was making dinner in the kitchen and almost dropped the damn pot! I hope the Prosecutor says HELL NO!

9. And how would this be good for Delay?
Even dropped to a misdemeanor, it's still a guilty plea, isn't it?

What happened to Republican promise of bringing dignity back to the gov't? It's amazing what these snakes will do to keep their positions in power. I hope his State is taking notice .

16. I doubt it, unless DeLay can give up some bigger fish.
If that's possible, then Earl might make an offer, but who is DeLay really able to give up? Abramoff? They already have enough on him to win a conviction. Shrub? He probably has the knowledge, but I seriously doubt he'd turn him over.

12. If this is a new attempt to down grade the charges in a plea bargain
It makes one wonder if old Tom is either in a wold of doo doo or if Dick DeGuerin is a really poor lawyer.

DeGuerin is the one who chose to make the offer of taking misdemeanor charges by Earle public in the first place. How bad will this look for DeLay if he were to decided to revert back to that offer now (if Earle is even still offering it) after having more and harsher charges brought against him? They were the ones who said they were going to fight it out in court rather than plea, after all.

18. There's another possibility I didn't consider
This is all assuming that this is a new attempt, of course.

Earle hit him with the first charge, which was hard to prove. DeGuerin then tells DeLay they can beat it in court and there's no reason to plea if that's all he's going to be bringing. DeLay and DeGuerin then went off spouting how this was all tripe and they were going to fight it and win. Earle lets them dig their hole and later hits them with the second punch to the jaw. This one being something that they either think Earle can prove or know he can. After that there's profuse sweating and gnashing of teeth and an attempt to get a judge that will see things their way. Now they are really panicking and trying to get Earle to put the offer back on the table.

Just a thought.
