Bush Said Stand With Me, Now Blames Those Who Did
Bush Said Stand With Me, Now Blames Those Who Did

I just watched Bush's speech, on CNN. Basically he said that Democrats who acted patriotically when asked to stand alongside their President -- who said we had an urgent "imminent" "mushroom cloud" threat to the country -- and trusted what the Bush Administration told them, are to blame for the mess we're in. I guess he's saying they should have known better.

I think we all know better now.

15. ALL intel was inoperable the MOMENT weapons inspectors went into Iraq and
started reporting back REAL TIME, ACCURATE, ON THE GROUND FACTS to the UN and to George Bush and he STILL invaded when those FACTS proved military action was NOT NECESSSARY.

21. Exactly. The media avoids this crucial aspect BECAUSE it's impeachable.

5. "You knew damn well I was a snake before you brought me in."
"I saved you," cried the woman
And you bit me, even why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die
"Oh shut up, silly woman," said the reptile with a grin
"You knew damn well I was a snake before you brought me in"

Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in, tender woman, sssssighed the snake

14. I thought of the EXACT same thing when I read this.
He is blaming them for falling for the con, instead of thanking them for their (ill-advised) support when he demanded it (or else the Rovian attack dogs would have been unleashed).
He is beyond despicable.

6. jr is sinking faster than a rusty anchor.
He can say anything he wants, the problem is there weren't any of those weapons there and GIs continue to get ground up at a horrific pace. Making finger pointing speeches isn't going to change the grim reality of the situation.

8. I am at work so am only catching snips here and there.
I understand he also said that going into Iraq has increased the anger against us? Um, DUH! That's not going to change either.

How handy to blame those that actually were in support of him in the beginning because there was that "mushroom cloud" visual hanging over our heads. I am no longer amazed at what lengths they will go to try and distance themselves from taking responsibility for their forged documents and falsified information.

9. Exactly. That was my point when I said the dems who voted
for the war trusted the president. They voted ay, the same reason the pukes did. They trusted the president to do what was right. Now somehow the war has become the dems fault for not voting no. When asked why they voted for the war all the dems need to say is.... the same reason the republicans did...we trusted our president.

It's not his best work.

Flip-Flop is so last fall.

If that's the best Karl can come up with, it shouldn't take Bush too much longer to hit 30%.

18. How do you trust a man that stole an election?
How do you trust those that subverted democracy?(Selection 2000)
How do you trust those that denied black people the right to vote through intimidation and cheating?(Florida)
How do you trust those willing to erode civil rights in the name of national security?(Patriot Act Oct 23, 2001)

How do you trust a President like that?
How can you trust a President like that?
How can you tell yourself he might steal an election and erode civil rights, but you can trust him to not lie about war?

How?

Knowing the content of Bush's character(his actions in Texas, how he conducted the 2000 primary campaign,Selection 2000 - ALL of which speak to the man's character) how can anyone claim they trusted him? How do you trust a man like that? Why would you trust a man like that? What does it say about you to trust a man like that? What kind of naive notion is it to even think, much less believe, a President wouldn't lie about war? Especially a President of Bush's caliber...

I ask myself these questions all the time. I want answers. I demand answers. I am owed answers. Honest answers.

As a military family, I am owed an explanation. The US government owes me the truth - they are indebted to my family. It was my husband's life at stake. Bush lied - and he must be held accountable in a war crimes tribunal for those lies - but those in Congress who "stood alongside their President"( a President that got to be President through election fraud/theft) to do their "patriotic duty" have to answer as well.

Ultimately, the burden for the crime of Iraq falls on Bush and Cheney - but not everyone in Congress is without some portion of the blame.

The debt to my husband and all the troops is still outstanding. It will remain outstanding until people answer for their actions and are held accountable.

And that's just the debt owed to the troops...just think of the magnitude of the debt owed to the Iraqis.

19. It doesn't matter, Will. The argument has been out there all day on a
Friday. The news cycle is over. Now all that matters is the Democrats are trying to rewrite history.

The Dems had a very small window to get out in front of it and steal teh ball from Bush. Bush has run the ball all the way downfield and will score a touchdown in less than an hour as the bad news drop time hits.

It's going to be difficult for the Dems to dig themselves out of the hole they allowed Bush to put them in this morning by not vociferously arguing against this bullshit from Bush.

22. I think your media analysis is wrong, Walt.
Edited on Fri Nov-11-05 04:05 PM by WilliamPitt
The reason White Houses 'take out the trash' and do news dumps on Fridays is because no one watches the news Friday night, and no one reads the paper on Saturday mornings. An overgeneralization, to be sure, but viewership and readership of the news plummets from Friday morning until Sunday morning. So, in essence, the speech and all resultant GOP blather will fall on mostly unhearing ears.

Further, the DEems will have until Saturday afternoon (for the Sunday newspapers and editorials) and Sunday morning (the talk shows) to get their response together. They'll be ready for the Sunday morning newspaper readership spike, as well as for Russert and Stephanopolous and the rest.

I have no idea why they chucked this thing up today. Yesterday, it would have been 1000x more effective, even with all the bullshit.

24. I Really Think You're Overreacting
The speech was pathetic and it's an uphill battle for Bush who is already fighting the established conventional wisdom which is "Bush is a liar who mislead us into a disastrous war". That IS the conventional wisdom now and Bush's bullshit today will do nothing to change that even with the MSM propping him up and pushing his spin. Remember, the MSM really never STOPPED propping him up for the most part and the CW that Chimpy is a liar STILL somehow came to be.

And additionally, no one except us even pays attention anymore to the blathering idiots lies. Once people establish you're a liar, they tune you out. There's no way back from that. And now, 60% of the country (at least) think he's a liar. You can't just get on tv and say "I'm not a liar!" and have it work when you have those awful numbers.
