Holy crap, it just hit me between the eyes.
``Some Democrats and anti-war critics are now claiming we manipulated the intelligence and misled the American people about why we went to war,'' Bush said.

There was a time when nobody in the Democratic Party would even raise this question.

Then there was a time when the Democratic Party raised the question, but the mainstream media would not touch it.

And then the mainstream media raised the question, but ex-administration officials would not touch it.

And then the ex-administration officials raised the question, but the current administration would not touch it.

And then the current administration raised the question...

25. Instead of jowls shaking, for Bush it will be coke jaw twitching...
Instead of "I am not a crook," it will be "I am not a liar" or "I am not a moran."

39. Very possible. I see it as a Rove move to get the discussion of
Libby, DeLay, Frist, Abramoff off the radar screen and blogosphere.
Once again they use the war to govern - when in doubt they whip it out.
But your interpretation is interesting.

I hope the average citizen is going to say "I just can't take 3 more years of this lying shit.

So which is it? Everyone saw the same intel or the Bush* Administration lied to the Congress and the American people?

30. I don't have a link. You'll have to google and DU search.
I've sort of paraphrased but that's the general gist of what the Bush administration said. It's all really confusing because they lie about practically everything. It's hard to keep things straight.

Someone was discussing this in another post today.

32. I found this little blurb
Former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-NE), ex-Senate Intelligence Committee vice chairman: “The president has much more access to intelligence than members of Congress does. Ask any member of Congress. Ask a Republican member of Congress, do you get the same access to intelligence that the president does? Look at these aluminum tube stories that came out the president delivered to the Congress — ‘We believe these would be used for centrifuges.’ — didn’t deliver to Congress the full range of objections from the Department of Energy experts, nuclear weapons experts, that said it’s unlikely they were for centrifuges, more likely that they were for rockets, which was a pre-existing use. The president has much more access to intelligence than any member of Congress.” <10/7/04>

7. It's starting to get interesting, isn't it?
Bush has now tacitly admitted that we went to war on false pretenses.

The Bushbots are now using the following logic to rationalize this:

1. We gave you our (doctored) intelligence

2. You believed it and supported the war.

3. Now that you have learned the truth, you are against the war.

Conclusion: Democrats are hypocrites.

Too funny and desperate to be really upset about.

11. Didn't you get the memo?
This is the new propaganda from the White House. Blame the Democrats, who voted for the IWR, for the war. Rachel Maddow said this morning that Tucker Carlson picked up the idea from Bush in his own words. You will keep hearing it over and over again until every dumb freeper in America believes it.

...because he's now on the defensive.

Rove must be snarfing banana moon pies like crazy.

Rove is the master of putting others on the defensive and playing the game from there. He's probably not as skilled when his boys are on the defensive.

They never thought they'd be on this side of the fence. That's why they'll slowly spiral until they hit rock bottom. They're arrogant, oblivious thugs---who never anticipated that the American people would wake up.

They don't have a "Plan B". The implosion will be fun to watch.

Remember when he was all giddy about going to Mars?

What happened with that?

Also, why in the hell did he propose something like that in the first place?

"And now for my next trick! We will colonize the rings of Saturn!".

17. he forgot about Poland! (and quite a few Republicans)
who are also questioning the claims of this administration.

Didn't I see the latest figure of 57% of Americans who think they were lied to about the war? And this very speech repeated the same lies again as if the intelligence had been cleared and proved!

They learn nothing. What good would it do to give them "good" intelligence when they just ignore it if it doesn't support their previous theories, use it and abuse it at will?

19. If 57% of Americans believe we were lied to about the war ...
... does this mean that 57% of Americans are Democrats and anti-war? I certainly hope so.

bush will never accept responsibility for his actions. No matter what truth comes to light, it's always someone else's fault. May we please have a "sighing" smilie? *sigh*

18. At some point
these idiots will put down the shovel, when they look up and see a tiny patch of blue far above their heads, maybe reality will sink in on just how deep a hole they've dug.
Not that I'm not enjoying the death watch, it's just that these things get so embarrassing that people start to feel sorry and forget that these cretins are monsters who deserve to be smacked over the head with their shovel and a stake pounded through their shriveled black heart.

29. That's it, in a nutshell.
And you'd have to be a nut to wrap your brain around that, so it's fitting.

It's not going to work, Mr. President. Americans want you to take responsibility and own this thing, but clearly, you're not going to do that.

I'll revisit this topic when Bush hits 30%. :-)
