Here are the so-called "Dem" Senators who voted with Graham today.
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 09:28 PM by Zen Democrat
Unbelievable that the Senate voted 49-42 to end-run the Supreme Court and refuse judicial review to Guantanamo prisoners and others declared enemy combatants by the Executive Branch. These Senators voted with the Republicans:

Conrad, N.D.
Landrieu, La.
Lieberman, Conn.
Nelson, Neb.
Wyden, Ore.

What in the hell is with these people? This is about values. What values to these sad people hold dear?

5. I can see crass political reasoning by everybody but Lieberman & Wyden.

Connecticut and Oregon are not red states. Connecticut should throw Joe. And Oregon should have a long talk with Wyden.

4. shame on Landrieu
she's not up for reelection until 2008. By that time, the government of the country (and LA) will be so changed that voting no would make her look good or, it will have moved so much further to the right that she will lose her seat strictly due to the D next to her name.

6. Nelson, Neb
Nelson is notorious for voting with Bush. Last time I checked he voted for repug policies about 40% of the time. In Nebraska conservatives overwhelmingly carry the state and since Nelson claims to be a Dem he has to vote for the repugs every now and then in order to keep his seat.

7. How predictable.
I hope the constitutionality of this despicable statute will be challenged. And I hope a few DINO senators will eventually find themselves unemployed, replaced by real Democrats who respect the civil rights and liberties of all people.

9. Wyden? My Senator?
OMFG. He's going to get a letter from me. He's been turning into a DINO, ever so slowly. Landrieu, Lieberman, Nelson, no surprise there.

Wyden. Jeebers. He must have a sweet deal going somewhere in exchange for this vote, but I don't care. It's wrong. I think the Oregonian is going to have something to say in their Op-Ed page this Sunday. I certainly hope so.

15. Wyden has very little integrity
He voted for the Republican Medicare scam- despite being an early leader of the Grey Panther movement! What kind of person would do that?

Nothing that he does (like voting for CAFTA) surprises me.

Of course, he's not even close to being the worst of the lot- but he's clearly been inside the Beltway far too long- and needs to come home (or, preferably- move somewhere else).

18. I raised hell about the Medicare vote. His office gave a long explanation
I can't remember it well enough to even paraphrase now, but something about he felt like it would be better for the rural areas in the short term and that in the long term everything would work out.

I told his staff that if he ever believed anything out of bush's mouth he was making a big mistake.

Wyden is a compromiser, go along to get along kind of guy. His record for a long time was great. Then it began to go more and more and more toward the middle. I don't know why. I think he's been entrenched too long, just like you say.

Anyway, it makes me angry that my state has a Senator which is selling out the Dems and what we stand for.

10. Usual Suspects
at least Lieberman Nelson and Landrieu, I held out some hope after her attack on BushCO over LA, Landrieu would desert the republican party.. but I see now she hasn't.

The again that God-Warrior unbalanced woman from trading spouses was in LA.. perhaps that is some what telling of why she votes with the repukes all of the time.

23. And yet, there are those here who want us to think they're Democrats
and they'll defend Lieberman to no end. He's a piece of filth and he needs to be taken out with this garbage we call the Bush Administration.

12. Ok, Probably Stupid Question Here
I am so damn fed up with this same recurring list of so called Dem Senators. So my question is, is there any existing process upon which a majority of Dem leaders can get together and say "F You, You're out of our party"??? Or is it just up to us, the voters, to vote them the fuck out.

22. I don't think this amendment is going to stand as it is though.
I'm pretty sure there are going to be counter amendments next week that will change the final form of this dramatically if not almost completely.
