21. The technical term for it is "job security"
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 04:29 PM by rocknation
The election put the writing on the wall. And the Republicans who can read realize that neither they nor their party can survive with the Bush regime pulling their strings. Unless they want to be tarred with Bush's brush by Democratic (not to mention ambitious moderate Republican) challengers next November, the disconnecting must begin now. May I suggest that the most effective way for them to do that is to vote for bringing articles of impeachment.

8. The Raw Story article has been posted online:
Pledging to cut spending and slim taxes, GOP finds they do not have enough votes to pass budget
John Byrne

Print This | Email This

House Republican leadership is scrambling after being unable to get through a major budget bill following defections from numerous members of their own party, RAW STORY has learned. Rank-and-file Republicans are upset at the extent of spending cuts in the bill.

Earlier this year, the House Republican leadership had passed a budget which enjoined lawmakers to cut spending by $35 billion while retaining $70 billion in tax cuts. The proposed budget would have cut spending by $50 billion, while retaining tax cuts.

Democrats are cheering the budget's failure, saying that it gives away money to the wealthiest Americans. They also say the fact that Republicans can't get members of their own party to vote for it is testament to "how bad the bill is."

Stacey Farnen Bernards, spokeswoman for Democratic Whip Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), said, "I think its evidence of how bad the bill is that they cannot get their members to support it. And you can be sure they pulled out all the stops and offered their members the moon... and nothing worked."

12. they are finding that the 70 bill tax cut (upcoming next week)--does not

jive with cutting social programs.

Said DeLay was the best vote getter, and with him out of the leadership, it's a poor reflection on his replacement Blount.

was right--R leadership would take them to the cloakroom and make them puke blood to get votes. Party of strength, indeed. Effin' bunch of bullies with their very own stable of pet patsies. Rs disgust me.

15. I saw the debates in the House on this...
This morning. Very interesting and kinda telling. Only 2 of the repug reps of the whole lot had any type of debate based on the bill. It was almost all thanking vets honoring so and so. The Dem's on the other hand had quite a good message. Mr. Kucinich had a particularly good smackdown drawn from a biblical verse.
