Is this "God" guy Pat Robertson's Enforcer?

Who is this "God" guy Pat Robertson (along with other members of the 'christian' Right) keep talking about?

A common Pat Robertson quote is:

"If you do/don't ______, then God will do/unleash/send _______ to/on you!"

The 'christian' Right's invoking of God sounds an awful lot like Mafia guys demanding people to pay 'insurance'.

All that you ever hear from them about God is how he is going to punish this and smash that. Inevitably it is when someone does not do what Pat & Co. says. Apparently it is OK to be involved in blood diamonds. But God's gonna getcha if you don't put religion in your science books.
