...Since I've been gone.

While I surf all blogs compulsively; I'll admit that I have not hit the DU boards as of terribly late. (OK, eat me alive--I am posting this relatively ('tis almost midnite on the West Coast) late.) I must note the fact that the last time I commented on the character of this board, the moderators (and do note: here I neither disagree with nor fail to sympathize with their motivations) locked my post. Will they give this flamebaiter a second chance? (I wouldn't...) Anyway, this may be perhaps the last thing I will post on DU (Hey! I HEARD that applause!!) BUT:

Why is is it that so many of us liberals seem bent on acting out the ^%^#!$! lefty stereotypes that the likes of the moronic boobs of the wingnut world describe?

To Draw on my recent (admittedly limited) experience:

Perhaps it may be true that George Bush is one of the most damaging presidents we have ever had, AND that Hugo Chavez is a boob?!? Might some of us (however possibly wrong) not hold that Chavez is seriously bad news for Venezuela, as much as we may like his ballsy criticism of the W. Admin? Might there be two rotten leaders in the Western Hemisphere? Chavez and Bush?

And...

In a recent post, I criticisize (admittedly, a bit irreverantly) Maureen Dowd. I also allude in said post that my criticism would likely be lost on her editors...

A fellow who disagrees mocks my "wingnut ass." Re: he believes that I simply hath labeled the NYT as a liberal propaganda sheet...

Brother, I have no "wingut ass" to mock! Mock my Seattle toned, taut and sexy butt-cheeks, if you must!! (I am not gay, but... No, really!) A bit of irony here--I am alluding to the fact that it was the Times which printed all of Judith Miller's most credulous reporting before the war; that the Times thus ultimately contributed to the war...

Seriously, for both of you who have read to this point, do I need point out what is wrong with this picture? I am NOT asking for anyone to sympathize with me against anyone else who posts here, believe me. Yet in the (again, admittedly limited) time I have returned this board I have encountered marked dogmatism and intolerance. This 'tain't us!

Let dogmatism be a characteristic of the right--if the beliefs we hold cannot be defended in civil discourse, here we need NEW IDEAS, not those more capable of arguing them...

Come on liberals, let us stay right! Let us not forget how to stay that way...
