Before we celebrate too much....
I have a question regarding the elections that were just past.....you know...the ones that democrats prevailed.

How do you reconcile these election results knowing that there are a multitude of problems with electronic voting?

Were these past elections not with electronic means, as per diebold etc?

I have to ask why did we get the results we got? There were no exit polls as far as I know. Why did we do so well? I mean, if the GOP control the elections - then why did they give it to us? Would it be to quell the furor regarding the inconsistancies with electonic voting? You know - give us crumbs to keep us happy and then when it really really really counts......BOOM - we lose.

Just wondering what your thoughts are.......don't flame me for being a pessimist.....

2. Some of the conspiracy hype was just hype.
I'm not saying that there are not problems because clearly there are. I'm just saying that when people come out and vote there are more impediments to rigging an election than some people think.

I do think the best way to approach the problem is with openness.

1. All election software should be peer-reviewed open source and developed in the open. No company should be able to keep their code under wraps as the public is clearly not well served by that.

2. All elections technology should provide built-in processes for independent audits. I'm not talking about running the program one more time. I'm talking about an audit which uses an independent means to verify the results.

3. Independent exit polls should be used to instill public confidence in all elections. Data for these polls should be openly available for independent peer-reviewed analysis.

4. Voting should be codified in the Constitution of the U.S. as a right of the citizenry.

4. Because voting fraud, while it exists, does not usually affect outcomes
