If this guy can pool in VA, the the 2008 election is in the bag with or without FL and OH.

With VA we would have enough electoral votes.

Florida & Ohio = 47

Virginia = 13

Someone needs to go back to school.

13. Iowa voted Republican in '04
and it seems to be trending that way again in '06 in the Governor's race.

2. Huh?
I don't think so. The biggest mistake we can make is to think a win in 2008 will be a cakewalk.

5. Well he'd certainly fair better in the South than Hilary, and most
blue states would likely support him? Additionally he won't have a war vote to contend with on the left.

I predict we will run a southern governor and he'll have a "general" or a "military, security" type as a VP?

We'll see.

in 2006.

14.  I wish he would too, but, after yesterday, that isn't happening.....
He has too much to lose and nothing to gain. Organizing a national presidential campaign is a massive, full-time job and I think Warner has decided that now is his time.

He pretty much occupies the same place in the party Jimmy Carter did in 1976-a photogenic, clean, smart, nearly unknown, one-term southern governor. Yet Carter emerged to beat some of the biggest names in the Democratic party-because his timing was right. Lloyd Bentson, Jerry Brown, Frank Church, George Wallace, Scoop Jackson, Mo Udall and several other decent candidates all fell to Jimmy Carter.

Who's to say we won't be saying the same thing about Mark Warner in 2035?

26. No, for some reason Ted skipped 1976 (when he could have won)
and waited until 1980 to challenge an incumbent of his own party (Carter).

However, I seem to remember that Hubert Humphrey and Ed Muskie were also considered as potential candidates if the convention was deadlocked. Carter really was a total unknown who beat out the entire Democratic elite.

16. I know, but to do so would eliminate a PTOUS run in 2008
there are others in VA, so don't right that senate seat off just yet. I don't think Warner would kill Allen. Warner's approval rating is in the 70s, but Allens in in the high 60s. It would be a messy race and would force him out on lots of issues which would hurt him in a race for POTUS.

19. Here is the ticket
Figure the knowck on Warner is going to be a lack of Foriegn Policy experience. That is always the way it is with Governors But remembegovernorss always beat senators in the General Election. Now you also have to do electoral calculus. figure the VEEP choice has to be a strategic choice in that it has to put a state in play or create true enthusiasm.

So who out there has the best credentials when it comes to foreign Policy who at the same time gives us an electoral edge.

The answer is Bill Richardson

Congressman
Enery Secretaty
UN ambassador
Two Term Governor
Gravitas instead of a bully
North Korea Trusts him

the First minority to ascend to the VEEP

Richardson draws i Hispanics in Florida, Arizona and Nevada. Warner is Adored in Virginia. that is four states that we can win... and everything else is locked

23. Could work
Warner/Richardson would be cool or Warner/Clark. I also think that in 2008 there could be a governor to run. Wasn't the only senator who won the presidential race was Kennedy?

I was impressed with his intellect. The political cartoonists would have a field day with that face, though. (I like the way he looks, he reminds me of one of my brothers, but he needs to do something about the eyebrows.)
