So where was the diebold effect
We were expecting it, hell we were expecting it... I think it was there, hold it... I'll explain.

The way the database works you can program it to literally flp a percentage of the votes. In a VERY CLOSE election this will work... but if you have a good GOTV effort and I have been told that we had a good turnout even in California, well that even small switch will not work.

If you had a larger switch in votes it would be too obvious.

The lesson of the story is... don't loose sight of the ball, which is the machines are rigged, but we NEED to get our voters out next year. That is the true lesson of the story.

4. There may be, as long as you don't remove your eyes from
that stealth ball... and realize the system IS RIGGED... and I expect the switching to be larger next year.

Voters report problems with voting machines in Roanoke Co.

Election day voting is going on across the Old Dominion, but everything has not gone smoothly in Roanoke County.

News 7 has received calls from several voters in at least four different precincts who say their votes for Tim Kaine were not recorded or took several attempts to go through.

They contend the electronic touch screens repeatedly indicated they were voting for Republican candidate Jerry Kilgore instead of registering their intended vote for his Democratic opponent Tim Kaine.

Roanoke Co. Registrar Judy Stokes says she doesn't want to say the problem is operator error on the part of the voters, but she points out the touch screens are sensitive. She says anyone who is having difficulty voting should ask one of the poll workers for assistance.

State election officials have been told of the problem. They believe if there is a problem, it could have been caused by the way the machines were stored.

The Kaine compaign is reportedly watching the situation in Roanoke County.

8. this is what i am thinking. i dont get it. same thing happened in
texas and new mexico in 2004 and even the dems dont think it is a big deal, bush would have won in these areas anyway, so why bother. wtf. i want all vote to count, properly without strainous effort to get the dem candidate to be reg. is that really expecting too much. andd it not ALWAYS being the dem vote skimmed off

11. I was watching VA results last night
At one point they announced 56% to 43% for Kaine. I kid you not, 15 minutes later the results were 53% Kaine to 46%. Unfortunately, I think election fraud is alive and well. At the time I told my wife, here we go again. I think you're right though, Dems won by such a wide margin it would have been difficult for even * or Diebold to explain.

5. Was it a Diebold machine that told poll workers Gov Gropenator
had already voted? ;)

Spot on that they can only turn a certain percent of the votes without being too obvious, therefore the better our turnout, the better the chance of results being in line with what voters really wanted.

And all the more reason to come down HARD AND FAST on ANYTHING which tends to discourage voting in precincts with high DEM registration, like was done in many urban areas in 04.

17. Sorry to say it but the ranges in that one
tell me that most voters voted against it... I don't know enough about the politics, but the numbers tell me that if (and there was) any fraud, it just exarcerbated the no votes, and the range is so wide that it will be a hell of a time for people to listen.

21. I fully undestand that
but you are going to have a hell of a time having people listen

I am sure there was rigging, now let me see if the switiching is lets say five percent of votes, and you had that many nos and then the switching still happened, yuo will see this effect. I say you are seeing the effect... I don't doubt you..

But at this point it will be an uphill battle for these are the kinds of technicals that make people shake their head... we are talking math here... as an RPG author, trust me when I say this, people HATE math in this country

and I can only hope it was nipped in the bud, but this cryptic post in one of your threads last night had me wondering. Have you heard any more about it?

37. Police to intervene in Los Angeles

Just got an email:

Phew! The Watch Commander from the Norwalk Sheriff's department just acknowledged our plea for intervention on behalf of Election Code 15204. Moments ago I got a call informing me that the Conny McCormack was denying the public access, including Bev Harris is there, to view the Central Tabulation for Los Angeles.

Well, tomorrow we'll know what the outcome is after the officers arrive tonight.

12. But a couple of initiatives in CA were close...
I was expecting a Diebold effect to switch those so Arnie could claim a win- any theories as to why this didn't happen? Was this a "clean" election? (in CA anyway)
Could this mean that the corruption of the 2004 election was localized to just the presidential race in strategic states only?

I'm pleased at yesterday's results, but no more optimistic about a fair election in 2006 than I was the day before. Of course, I just saw Mark Crispin Miller speak on his new book "Fooled Again"...

14. No I don't think it was clean one bit
it is just that the turnout and the votes of NO were too much for them to switch it... you have to program these values into the database before your values are brought in, aka votes uploaded... so if my gut on this is correct, arnie lost even by more than the official tally...

This means in 2006 we will have to get people to the polls, PERIOD... and make them vote.

13. they can't steal every election. it would be too obvious
they have to let some go in order to be able to say things like this.

"if diebold were really stealing our elections, then why did a democrat win in VA?"

have to look at the bigger picture. wait till 06. that's when they'll stick it to us. they don't care much about governors anyway, has nothing to do with national legislation.
