Those "20 days" are long over; so WHERE ARE THE DAMN ABU GHRAIB PICS???
When last we heard of them, the Godless Torture Junkies
we call "The Government" were ordered to make public
the remaining pics (and films) depicting
SOME FEW of the abuses perpetrated by our soldiers and allies
at the Abu Ghraib prison complex.

They had 20 days to appeal the ruling.

Those 20 days have come and gone,
and it seems that the entire story has gone as well.

No appeal, no pics...and no mention in the media
that any of this drawn-out court battle ever happened.

So I'm wondering: WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?
Did I just IMAGINE all of this? :wtf:

3. the Washington Post has them. We should be pressuring them.
they claimed to be "looking at the feasibility" of releasing them online or something last year. So much for that.

7. yup, hundreds more. The editor mentioned them during online chats.
I wish they got blasted for sitting on them, some kind of loud, angry media campaign. They can be shamed into releasing them, Rumsfeld can be expected to pull every trick in the book to stall.

14. They're under a restraining order.
They're not going to break the law, no matter how much we pressure them. The court order allows them to release the images. There's not much else that can be done. Unless of course you're interested in pulling off the heist of the century.

8. They're due to come out on the 14th of November
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 01:10 AM by mikelewis
I believe this is the date but I could be mistaken. Anyway, I'm anxious to see Bush veto an anti-torture bill when those pictures come out. I bet McCain is thinking the same thing.

9. They have till the 15th of November
to file an appeal. IIRC this is like the 3rd extension for appeal. After *'s little comment today about how "We don't torture" I doubt they will let the pics get released. The one good thing about Cheney's push for exceptions to the torture legislation is if the photos come out the public will see exactly what they are fighting for. That should sink the administration.

26. I'm really afraid you may be right.
There's no way that the punishment for destroying these
would seem worse to them than the political damage
caused by their RELEASE.

I really doubt we'll ever see them released;
but it's still important to remind everyone
that they EXIST, and Mr. "We-do-not-torture"
is desperate to keep them hidden forever.

And BTW, welcome to DU!:hi:

24. i was wondering too. i see nov 15. the date just keeps moving forward
since people are now saying again, no one was tortured it is just the time for these pictures to come out. and when they say no no we cant show these pictures, we need to say, but...... you say there isnt torture. obviously you need the picture to visually see what we are doing

25. These photos must be released
I dread it, but it must be made public.

The Nazi Party gained power and kept power in Germany because people were silent, and looked the other way.

thanks for posting about this

27. Kick for the evening crowd; also a "heads up"...
NPR had an interview today with the Abu Ghraib Scandal's
"Designated Scapegoat", Gen. Janice Karpinsky.

Worth your time to stream from their archives
when you have an hour to listen.

28. Everyone in congress and the senate looked at them. If our own
representatives allowed really heinous acts to go unpunished, there will be hell to pay at the polls. Worse, we should throw them all out if they covered up torture. There were some senators that said they weren't that bad and others that said it was horrible. From the looks at the ones they showed, if there are others that exist, I doubt the world can stomach them. I really don't want them shown in public because we still have soldiers over in Iraq, however, if they are as bad as I've read, I would hope our Representatives pursue justice.
