2055 US DEAD. 1??,??? Iraqi Dead. I Don't Feel Like Celebrating Xmas..
The Dead have taken their toll on my psyche. I have two young sons and have no joy this season. I read and post daily of the atrocities in Iraq both on our troops and the innocent Iraqis. It would not be happening if the US had not invaded and occupied Iraq. I don't feel like partying.

I do an Angel Tree project every year in my church for the children of prison inmates. I have done it for years and this is the first time I am not feeling the spirit of the season.

This war has affected me in more ways than I could have ever imagined.

:(

I can't help holdingotu hope that 2006 will bring a change.

I will NOT let them steal tradition from me. I win, they lose.

ps: is there anywhere that has numbers on Iraqi death toll?? I can't find them.

3. The children deserve their childhood.
Please continue your good work. Hopefully the kids know little of this war.
Our family always does some kind of gift giving for kids who are less fortunate than we.
I do it because I feel good doing it and it has become a tradition.
I can't stop what my country is doing to Iraq(not by myself) so I help those I can.

4. How About Not Reading & Posting For A While. Rejuvinate Yourself
recharge your batteries.

No matter how miserable you allow yourself to get, those lives will not come back. The sun will keep rising and each new day is a chance to move forward just a little bit more.

11. Speakng only for myself, I took a yearlong break
Edited on Mon Nov-07-05 08:20 PM by vogonity
I had to. On Nov 3 2004 I deleted all my political bookmarks. My daughter was born one week before that horrible Tuesday night and my anger over these crimnals was just consuming me. There was no way that I was going to consciously or unconsciously transfer any of that to her. I finally ventured back here in October of this year.

I just had to take a break for a while. It helped.

13. There are several estimates and guesstimates......
On the Iraqi dead. A british Study puts it somewhere around 100,000 in 2004, and counting. An Iraq bunch put the total at 160,000......and counting. The US says 26,000 or so (I don't think I believe that, frankly).

Many of those deaths seem to be the elderly, women and children; not the "insurgents". Malnutrition is rampant, as well, and the children bear the brunt of that. Remember, too, that 1/2 the population consists of children, and the weapons used by the US, including cluster bombs, chemicals, and depleted uranium are going to take a continuing toll on the health of the remaining population.

But the US is not counting the civilian deaths, and they are making the lives of those whose job it is to do that counting very difficult; medical staff, journalists and peace activists.

8. Hugs Lefty..... sorry that these times have drug you down with
them.... I noticed that you do projects for the children of prison inmates... and I remember that once when I posted about heavy metal toxicity and weak genetics that make certain individuals more susceptible to their effects you were in tune with it.

I hope I can brighten your spirits a little by letting you know that by far, there is a new method for helping reduce violent tendencies.... you can google for it... stem cells glyconutrients.

Also there is the tried and true www.hriptc.org that has excellent articles on autism, adhd and type A personality.

If nothing else, it may be possible that one day, persons like bush and his ilk will get some sort of treatment as laid out at Pfeiffer so that maybe our futures might be a little less VIOLENT.

Take care, be well.... 4mor

9. It's still a time of birth and hope
I am tired of the dying, also, but if they take away the spirit of Christmas, well, it's like Mr. Potter taking over Bedford Falls. Not to sound as if I'm not taking you seriously, because I am, but it seems like a chance to make Christmas mean more.

14. That's true, peace on earth, also
In fact, I have noticed that I've been getting more cards in the last few years that say "Peace on Earth" on them.

Maybe it's a chance for Christmas not to be so commercial.
