Let us recap what right wingers want.. (In their perfect world)

They want women who are raped and become pregnant, to have the child, but give it up for adoption if the woman is not financially able to raise it.

They want "all babies born", yet actively fight against programs that benefit children..(WIC/Headstart)

They want 13 yr olds who were molested, and became pregnant to do the same.

They claim to be pro-life, yet gleefully support capital punishment.

They want torture to be the rule, not the exception, in a wartime situation.

They want all "illegals" to be deported and or kept out permanently, but they still want cheap cabinets, cheap produce, cheap child care, cheap car repair, cheap lawn care, cheap fast food.

They want God to be in every classroom, but not the Jewish God, or the Muslim God, or the Hindu Gods...only the Rapturous Blue-eyed Aryan Jesus.

They want low or NO taxes, but they still want roads, bridges, parks,schools libraries, etc.

They want to have as many guns as they can afford, yet balk at paying additional taxes for the extra police that might be needed to control all the gun-toting citizens.

They want access to the limited tax funds to support their religious charities and schools, yet expect the public schools to provide "extra curricular" activities for their children.

They go ballistic at the thought of a national ID card, yet expect
one for "other people" who may want to vote..

They cringe at the thought of "activist" judges on the left, but expect quick appointment of activist conservative judges.

They have no issue when republican legislators lock out democratic legislators, and do not even include them in meetings, yet cry real tears of rage when a democratic senate leader uses senate rules to get a long-delayed meeting.

They insist on following the "rules", but have no complain when a 15 minute vote is held open for 3 or more hours, until enough congresspeople have been threatened into changing their already cast votes.

They claim to be avid outdoors people/hunters/fishermen, yet they also favor strip mining, mountain topping, logging of old growth forests/ and drilling in wildlife preserves.

This is only a partial list. We seem so focused on all the things they fight us on ..day in and day out, but are these the things that would truly make them happy if they ever got their way?

I think they are more contrarian than conservative. Like the petulant child who stomps his/her foot and challenges Mom or Teacher every time they are asked to do something. The mere fact that someone else is calling the shots is enough to send them into tantrums

10. The rub is that most of "them" are as broke as most of US are,

and there's little money "flowing" to any of us ..middlers and lowers are in a real pickle regardless of political affiliation

5. Good thread...but here's a correction...

AFDC is no more. Under Bill Clinton, "Welfare Reform" became law (can't blame it on the Repubs, because he advocated big time for it), and Aid for Dependent Children became TEMPORARY Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF, with a five year time limit and work requirements.

Can't blame TANF and food stamp restrictions COMPLETELY on Republicans, when it was Bill Clinton who signed it into law.
