Strange question regarding the Iraq War Vote ~ idears anyone ??
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 10:07 PM by mzmolly
I am wondering if Dems and others can take any action regarding the "Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq" given the fact that the resolution contained false claims?

The authorization for "war" was based upon the premise that Saddam had Nukes and was hiding members of Al Qaida.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/10/20021002-2.html

Whereas Iraq both poses a continuing threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region and remains in material and unacceptable breach of its international obligations by, among other things, continuing to possess and develop a significant chemical and biological weapons capability, actively seeking a nuclear weapons capability, and supporting and harboring terrorist organizations;

...

Whereas members of al Qaida, an organization bearing responsibility for attacks on the United States, its citizens, and interests, including the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, are known to be in Iraq;

Whereas Iraq continues to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations, including organizations that threaten the lives and safety of American citizens;

Whereas Bush was full of sh*t so we should be able to strip him of some authority?

Anyhow, any thoughts on what those who voted in favor of this legislation can do LEGALLY now that it has been demonstrated that the information contained in the resolution was false? Can't we say that because we voted to remove Nukes from Iraq etc. that the vote is now void thus preventing Syria and Iran from being attacked?

I dunno, just tossing about idears.

3. We are inching toward that position. I think that's why Dems are calling
to continue the congressional investigation. That way we can open up debate/expose this admin.

4. "whereas" clauses
have no legal effect, so far as I remember.
