Guess where Cheney has been.

Cheney slips in, raises $400,000
VP's visit was surprise to most

By Howard Wilkinson
Enquirer staff writer

Vice President Dick Cheney quietly slipped into downtown Cincinnati Friday for a Republican National Committee fund-raiser, leaving downtown office workers scratching their heads over what the commotion on E. Fourth Street was about.

There was no advance publicity of the noon-hour event at the Queen City Club, and the event did not appear on the vice president's public schedule.

...snip

"He said the nation is polarized politically right now and that if you play to the middle, you are going to lose."

The one-hour event raised $400,000 for the Republicans' 2006 campaign fund.

John Dicker, 47, was in his upstairs apartment at Lytle Tower when he noticed the commotion outside. He found out that Cheney would soon arrive and got his Kerry-Edwards campaign button.

Dicker motioned across the street to the tent Cheney's limousine had entered moments before.

"That closed tent says it all," Dicker said. "That expresses what Bush and Cheney have been all about. Shut out the public. Do everything under cover of darkness. What a bunch."

10. --next year's elections are going to be about identifying the Repug base--

....They heard Cheney - whose chief of staff was indicted on five felony counts last week - make a speech on the importance of next year's state and congressional elections to the GOP.

"He told us that he and the Republican National Committee (RNC) understand that next year's elections are going to be about identifying the Republican base, getting them excited and getting them to the polls," said Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, who is running for Ohio governor.

17. Dealing with that
I either read it here or heard it on a radio program that they were trying to re-do Bush's image as a conservative and probably them too for 2006 like they did in 2000/2002. :eyes:

16. The Vice President of the United States is no longer a public figure.
That alone should be newsworthy.
