'White House in Chaos' & Other Utter Horseshit "

White House in Chaos' & Other Utter Horseshit

Nothing could be more damaging for the bridge club of armchair politicians known as the Democratic Leadership than the recent spate of sound bytes like ‘Bush’s worst week in Office,’ ‘A White House Demoralized,’ and ‘Bushies on the Brink of Collapse’.

You can already feel Schumer, Dean, Hillary, and their media addicted minions being taken over by that familiar self-satisfied stupor, validating their inaction and cowardice, even repositioning it as though it was part of a grand plan, an agenda, even an ideology.

It’s like a bunch of fat people on a couch learning about the obesity epidemic from 60 Minutes and concluding they must be skinny.

The problem with these snappy doomsday pronouncements—collective wishes really—is that they bear no relationship to reality. You really have to wonder what kind of bloated house-bound moron could think slumping polls and plummeting approval ratings would worry a gang of fanatics who stole two elections in a row, invaded a country they knew couldn’t defend itself, and gave a male hustler White House security clearance.

As long as Democrats and their well-fed punditocracy measure Bush, et al with a yardstick of morality, popularity or ethics, they will never recapture the majority, and here’s why; Bush, et al aren’t driven by morality, popularity, or ethics. They’re driven by money.

...snip

Here’s a little secret; they never reel because they are never demoralized. They don’t measure success and failure they way you and I do, by analyzing public benefit or desire, or even legality, or ethics. They measure success by how much more money they feast on from the public trough. And by that measure, they hogs are literally drowning in shit.

Many more "gems" here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tom-gilroy/white-house-in-chaos-_b_10159.html

1. Excellent points. The delusion that we are still a democracy is dangerous
Why would people who steal elections care about polls?

2. Pretty bleak stuff, to be sure, but they DON'T care about ethics...
...and if Bush makes ANY headway on his "Tax Reform Agenda," you'll see more of Tom Gilroy's words come to life.

3. The last line tells the story.
"They measure success by how much more money they feast on from the public trough. And by that measure, they hogs are literally drowning in shit."

I disagree that they don't care about poll numbers though. Shrub and he close brains may not, but all those Pubs in the House and Senate sure do! It's no secret that he can't get elected again, but in the same way those Congress folks can ride the coat-tails of a popular President on the way up, they know they also can't just drop off on the way dowm!

4. Excellent rant!
"You really have to wonder what kind of bloated house-bound moron could think slumping polls and plummeting approval ratings would worry a gang of fanatics who stole two elections in a row, invaded a country they knew couldn’t defend itself, and gave a male hustler White House security clearance."

That just about sums the whole thing up, doesn't it?

6. At the end of the article...
"Think I’m wrong? Ten years ago, could you have imagined evolution being challenged, ‘affirmative action’ a political liability, or a pregnant GI posing for torture photos?"

12. You are right
it's REAL spin. We are all looking for the signs that he is down and out, drunk, stoned, whatever.

We underestimate the enemy. He is JUST FINE because the money is just fine, thank you very much.

It is like anthromophizing an animal..we think he feels like we feel, like we WOULD feel. But he has had a lifetime to develop that single minded thick skin and it is paying off for him.

All our chortling is wishful thinking. We are winning battles, but we have not won the war.

13. If/When the stock market collapses...
will the morons sitting on the sofa wake up? Maybe their sofa will be repossessed? Maybe then people will wake up and see what Big Biz in cahoots with Bu$h,Inc. have done. How do we end this Gilded Age II? Another Depression? There are times when I do believe the US is falling just like the Roman Empire did.

I wish I knew how to best attack these neocons....what is their achilles ankle?

14. As long as they can scare people and people don't get it, they
have power. However, people are getting it. Also, the vehicle of his power and demands -congress- is turning away for self preservation. He can sit and pile up hate all he wants. Without them, he is a car without wheels.

As for the dems, they need to get their shit together. Period.

15. their achilles ankle...
Our side possesses the equivalent of Kryptonite for the neocons. Our power is in the inherent goodness, integrity, and decency of the vision that drives us. Unfortunately, we lack enough Dem politicians with the character to wield our power. It is this cowardice and lack of personal character in most of our Dem reps that stands between us and the ultimate demise of the neocons. Oh, they might throw out an occasional speech that inspires us - tiny scraps to keep us from revolting altogether. But when it's all said and done, they can be counted on to get out of the way of the neocon steamroller. In other words, we lack representation; the corporations own most of our guys too. In a real democracy, the neocons would be on the fringe. We don't live in a real democracy.
