When I signed up for DU before the 2004 'election', I thought "This is great! A place for Libs to get together and discuss/bash/laugh at (whatever) the flaws and lies of the so called right". As time has passed and the country has gotten into the deep quagmire of rampant capitalism and the methodic destruction of the Constitution, the atmosphere at DU has deteriorated in direct proportion to America's downfall.

What the hell is going on here? When we started tearing each other down, we got right into the gutter we accuse the other side of wallowing in. I have never seen such a bunch of hair-triggered, cranky assed, gang banging, rude people in my life.

This is not what I signed up for....Hey Skinner, I want a refund.

and please realize that this is a cycle that occurs when the other side is weak. They try their best to turn us against each other. So, in a very odd sort of way, this is a good sign -- they know they are in big trouble.

in time out then because my blood pressure was frequently through the roof. It was a time of learning for me. I actually appreciate that nature here sometimes. Sometimes you just have to know it is organized disruption and go about your business sometimes a lot of good information is in the midst of the flames. Gotta be able to go with the flow.

I am SO sick of posts like this! DU is a collection of diverse people from diverse backgrounds with diverse opinions. We don't all walk in lockstep with each other here! Some people are very passionate in their opinions and the way they express them. We are all adults here...grow a thicker skin.

trying to create chaos on DU to make themselves feel better. Look at the latest poll numbers. The majority of Americans now see Bush as an utterly incompetent liar. Freepers can't stand the thought that their Fuehrer is going down big time.

Also, we have a diverse population here with strong opinions on certain issues. I am annoyed by rude responses, too. However, I try to ignore these people as much as possible.

Our instincts lean toward the embracing of our first amendment rights. We're not goose-steppers here; we're not "yes" people. We're fighters under our common umbrella of Democracy. We can argue and seem nasty toward one another, which is human nature. We have buttons that can be pushed and, as fighters, we respond. This site gives us the freedom to know that we are in good company regardless. If we fight and snipe at one another, it's a metaphorical example TO ME that we're siblings for the same cause. Let it go, because DU is not a "place". It's a wonderful outlet with almost limitless branches.
