Boston Tea Party - This time throw voting machines in the harbor
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 10:18 AM by helderheid
What do you say?

Someone said we could say (sorry don't remember who you were - check in here please!) Last election our votes didn't float!

1. It's A Concept!
Seems like a very powerful idea. It would make a big statement.

17. This was done so well around the time after the election

I believe I read about it here.

I thought it was a brilliant idea and encouraged that we do it in California.

They had outlined all the ways to do it,recycled and everything.

It was such a lovely and powerful way to get the family involved.

I'm not much of a Searcher but I know it was AFTER the election.

23. Yeah it was the "blackbox" tea party.

We threw (and retrieved) black painted cardboard boxes into a pong out in Easthampton, as part of a national protest.

28. Yes!!! That is it, there was a website with every detail
about how to do it!

This MUST be done and asap.

The Media will not cover protests any more for more than 1 second and the numbers are never accurate.

They will cover a darling FAMILY outing ,WITH A NEW TWIST!

I'm telling you that we must find that website and see if it is still active.

I am so mad at myself for not saving the info about it.

33. It would be awesome! Boston and other cities too!

I tried to get it done in Los Angeles but everyone was so worn out from the election efforts that it didn't get started.

I looked on the votersunite.org website and didn't see anything about it as a continuing option.

Since it was their idea, should we check with them first?

How would we organize it in other cities as well?

This would truly be a POSITIVE way to educate the community about Voting "problems."

degradable material.

58. polystyrenes...
Styrofoam is kind of a misnomer nowadays... there are some companies that make "styrofoam" with no CFC's, and out of friendlier non-petrochemical based ingredients. I would be hesitant to put "biodegradable" things in the water, because then people might be inclined to leave them in the water (plus they'd probably be rendered useless)... Better to use foam, fish it out and reuse it many times (maybe a cooler for beers after the TEA party, or grilling goods, etc.)...

I know of one link through my Co-op America National Green Pages:
though there are bound to be more out there...

www.sinlessbuying.com

good luck!

4. Wow! Outstanding idea! Kicked, recommended and forwarded.
The visuals would garner TV news attention.

A good press release to tell the story.

And what an important story that would tell.

The symbolism would be most apt -- telling the story of people who want to be heard, the real government of the United States: "We the People."

Wow!

I suppose dressing as 18th century Indians would work as well now as in 1776. In fact it would really help make the connection.. Great Idea nominated...... We need something to get the Media's attention and America's. Only do it in every major seaport in america so it isn't an isolated event.... Great idea....

How can they send us to jail if it is a non-violent protest , and we are holding signs, dressed in historic costume, and staging this dramatic replay of the Boston Tea Party ? (ON THE SAME DATE OF THE BOSTON TEA PARTY ? WHEN WAS IT ?)
I like the concept and I bet we'd have thousands on board a huge ship.

Maybe the makers of the Diebold Machines can set up Demos for us....ROTFL.

Really, there should be an educational component to it so that people can understand what happened in the last election. They need to know how easy it was to steal our country.

Many people still think it is a tin hat issue.

51. That metaphor with nukes
"In an unprecedented move, the new president has issued a statement on
his first day of office: The united states will no longer maintain any
weapons of mass destruction in our arsenals, we will unilaterally
destroy these weapons within 1 year, and urge all our friends and
enemies to do likewise. The cost of the tragedy of these weapons is
too great, and the United states is a great enough nation to put then
down first."

So 1 years later, in boston harbour, 10,000 nuclear trigger circuits
are dumped in to the drink, the end of an era of terrorism and the
beginning of a new age where national competetive leadership was
based on moral leadership.

The voting machines are just a symptom of a greater illness, one that
has the patient near death, and none of the 2 party candidates can
save her, unless that person is a trojan horse progressive.

67. In Boston the tea was real... So was the Revolution.
The people who think they need to "Help Americans Vote" are not going to back away from this without a fight. Everything they own is at risk if the citizens of the United States realize what is happening to our nation and begin to speak their minds through free elections.

I am not against electronic voting machines, especially for disabled voters. But these voting machines must produce a paper ballot, and that voter verified paper ballot must be the only ballot that counts. A paper printout means nothing if it is not the official ballot. Votes stored as little unseen clouds of electrons or tiny magnetic spots are far too easily manipulated to be trustworthy.

We all need to understand what we are up against here, so let's be careful out there, okay?
