We've got Republicans walking precincts and phone banking for us
Out here in Caleee-forn-yaaa.

We live in a red, red city, in a red county, and we've had Republicans coming in to phone bank against Schwartzenegger this past week. One of our precinct captains has had a a little old Republican woman walking precincts for her the past month, because she's so pissed at the GOP.

Now we've got Republican Firefighters...who are normally a very conservative bunch, calling us up this week to come out to walk precincts with us this weekend.

They rallied with us a few days ago against the Arnold Propositions, and I was blown away when I heard a bunch of them talking about listening to Al Franken on Air America. One of them told me that he's been a Republican since Raygun, but is changing to Democrat, "as long as that idiot Bush is in the White House".

I do believe the worm is turning...

I think some of the true Conservatives/Republicans are waking up to the fact that the Bush regime are neither!

7. The campaign against Social Security
followed by the disaster in New Orleans woke people up from the slumber that Reagan put them in. They are suddenly realizing what the whole Republican double-talk is about. It will take time, but, if we can get good, honest Democrats into office, we will take back the country for common sense. I'd like to see someone run for president who has actually lived on a limited income at some point in his or her life. Clark probably did, but Gore never did. I don't really know about Kerry. I know this wife is wealthy, but I don't know whether he has always been wealthy.

20. Forbes family made a fortune in the drug trade
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 10:48 AM by suegeo
Kerry's a part of the Forbes family, unless I've been punked on a colossal scale. According to Wikipedia, the Forbes family made a fortune running opium to China.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kerry#Maternal_family_background
John Kerry's maternal grandfather, James Grant Forbes, was born in Shanghai, China, where the Forbes family of China and Boston accumulated a fortune in the opium and China trade. Forbes married Margaret Tyndal Winthrop, who came from a family with deep roots in New England history. Through her, John Kerry is related to four Presidents, including George W. Bush (ninth cousin, twice removed) <1> <2> <3> <4>, and to many of the royal houses of Europe. <5> <6> <7>

12. Even lousy politicians deserve to have their names spelled correctly.
There is no "T" in Schwarzenegger.

I wouldn't normally point out something so trivial. I've done so to get your attention. Nothing, I mean nothing, irritates me more than when people mock the name of my home state by drawling it as you have done. It pisses me off even more than "Amerikkka."

Happy flaming. I won't be here to read it.

Guess you won't come back to apologize for making an ass out of yourself, either.

The OP is clearly a citizen of your fair state and mocking the Gropenator's pronuniciation.

Not only that, but it was an incredibly positive and inspiring post.

14. The most underplayed story of the campaign last year was WHY Firefighters
in the post 9-11 world supported Kerry overwhelmingly.

Funny, how the media built up firefighters everyday since 9-11 and then put them on ignore the day they endorsed Kerry.

16. Awesome. But are you sure they aren't RBWs? "Reluctant block walkers"?
Yes, despite these amazing stories of so many former Bush-supporters changing their tunes, and the massive Democratic GOTV campaigns, and favorable polls..it will all be explained away in the aftermath of fraudulent elections..
;-)

Seriously, that is great news.

17. Now, I wonder what will happen if Schwarzenegger's initiatives still pass,
mysteriously. Already the LA Times is reporting their own poll numbers (for at least one of the initiatives) in contrast to a Field poll that shows there is no public support for any of them.

They didn't get rid of the Secretary of State for nothing.

I'm down here in Riverside county. I think it may be the most corrupt in the state! I'm hand delivering my absentee ballot, but I still don't feel confident my vote will count.

I believe Diebold machines were used to count absentee ballots in Alameda County in the recent past. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. In fact, I hope I'm wrong because I vote absentee in Oaktown.

But, he has had a HUGE influence out there. His books are easy to read, funny and very accessible. I don't agree with him on every issue either, but he is smart, fact-based and is willing to admit it when he is wrong.
