THE Bush administration's threat to use nuclear weapons against Iraq, though thinly veiled in circumlocutions, should tell us all we need to know about the American image in the world today.

The United States, once so admired over most of the earth, is now seen as a nuclear bully. No wonder it's called "the great Satan" by Muslims and "arrogant" even by its European friends. And President Bush thinks they hate us for "our freedom, our democracy"?

The warning is supposed to deter Iraq from using weapons of mass destruction against American forces and allies, even though (1) we don't know that Iraq has such weapons, and (2) the administration has told us repeatedly that deterrence doesn't work against Iraq.

Iraq hasn't threatened the United States, in spite of Bush's raving on the subject. The United States definitely threatens Iraq. And it has forfeited the right to describe Iraq's or any other regime as "evil."

2. Sad Isn't The Word....

SCARY is THE WORD!

It is of no consequence at this point in time if this Administration could be totally removed.... they've done enough damage to America to last for more years than we can begin to recover from!

We are in deep shit not matter what happens to THEM!! We got screwed ROYALLY! I tried so hard to scream and holler way back BEFORE the 2000 Fraudulent Election and haven't stopped hollering yet!

I have many converts these days, but it's just one toke over the line now! Be afraid, be very afraid!!

But SAD is applicable, however too many other words could be used with it!

3. I tried to scream too, maybe not so Loud, but I think WE are the

most hated country in the world. How could less than 8 yrs., sink us here? I have woken up, since being on DU, that we have been doing Bad things for a long time, but, nothing to this degree!

Here is the funny part (spread by the RW talking points) , the immigrants want to come here, so, we must be great (Hello, they bring all kinds of illegal practices, tie up our court system, etc. and and might even have immunity).

The rich elite, want us to focus on them (the above), not on themselves, or us as, a legitimate constituency. We have to resist that or we are nullified.

4. I've Been Awake For A Long Time!

I DID Watergate! There IS NO comparison. I DID Viet Nam! Some comparison, but THIS TODAY is an outrage!!

5. I was at the orthopedic office and in the lobby found a captive audience,

surprise, surprise! I actually, didn't bring up politics, but it arose, in SJ we, are Pissed, wonder why?

Here is my side of the conversation, "So, what is the difference between the RW propaganda and Stalin or Hitler?" They all thought their way was right, the way (God chosen ) and here we are in Iraq, with the same speech, only as Americans!".

I do feel bad, the little old lady next to me (RW, by body gestures was uncomfortable), but the rest of the office heard it loud and clear!

Who are we, with an imperfect society, trying to impose OUR will on the REST of the WORLD!

It was a conversation to behold on the free media, if we had one!

6. I Had A Similar Experience At A Local Grocery Store...

While waiting for a friend of mine I bought the paper and sat down. While checking headlines I was struck about the stupidity of Brown's FEMA emails.

I just uttered something like, "whoa, this is so UNREAL!" A few there were right there with me, but an elderly couple sat stonily silent, eyes fixed straight ahead. So being the "political junkie" that I am, I asked them if they had ANY comment on the blatant disregard that was depicted.

They got up and left!! Can't say I felt sorry for them. Let's just say you could conjure up pictures of Ostriches!!!

There's almost NOTHING worse than stubborn OLD people! My mother-in-law has Alzheimer's and has lived with us for over 6 years now... I think I understand how many of them think! She's 93!! So that makes me??? Oh about 59!! But I wake up EVERY DAY thinking I HAVE something new to learn. THAT'S what stubborn "older" people have taught me!!!

Now, I'm not dissing ALL of them... but for the most part, they stop listening a some point! I pray NEVER to go there!
