Bush feels hand of God as poll ratings slump
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1635037,00.html

America's faith in George Bush and in his decision to go to war in Iraq has plummeted in the wake of a White House intelligence scandal that went to court this week, according to a new poll.

As the president encountered violent protests in Argentina at the start of his Latin America tour yesterday, a survey published by the Washington Post and ABC News showed that public confidence was eroding rapidly back home.

Nearly six in 10 Americans, 58%, said they had doubts about the president's honesty, a 13% rise in 18 months. Only 32% believed Mr Bush was handling ethical issues well, a significantly worse score than Bill Clinton achieved in his last scandal-besmirched year in office. His overall popularity has plunged to 39%, a new low for the Washington Post/ABC survey.

Mr Bush is no more popular in Argentina, where a protest by several thousand demonstrators turned ugly. In the coastal city of Mar del Plata, where he is attending a regional summit, protesters set fire to a bank, looted stores and battled riot police.

1. W needs to either resign or be impeached
He's run our reputation into the ground to the point we are hated everywhere. For the good of the country, he needs to go ASAP, and take all his neocons with him.

3. I watched CNN wanted to see what the protesters were saying.
While watching Wolfie and Dobbs I think I gained some insight. They came close a couple times to blaming Chavez but backed off. To some degree they were comparing Bush to Chavez "who repudiated Bush and his free trade line. To me at least, they were disgusted with Bush, and went on how this protest was not helping Bush with all of his problems. It occurs to me even with all his problems in credibility, lies, starting wars of aggression what will really hurt him is an inability to "make a trade deal".

George is not a capitalist.

4. And Bush is claiming to represent the american people - slap in the face
no wonder you have to be more careful when traveling abroad.

Invade a country, kill who some claim over 100,000 of their civilians on a war based on falsehoods and bad (slamdunk) intel...!

10. I don't know if Americans get the 'Hand of God' reference
It's because Maradona, when playing England in the 1986 World Cup, used his hand to score a goal, which the referee didn't see, and everyone else did. Asked later in an interview if it had been handball, he replied "it was the Hand of God". It still rankles in England that we were beaten by a flagrant bit of cheating (even if it was by the best player in the world at the time).

Of course, you may all be aware of that, in which case I apologise for wasting your time.
