The * Cabinet Scandals, et al, need one name. What do you think DU?
Edited on Fri Nov-04-05 09:15 PM by vickiss
Can we pick pick one united name for all of the scandals? Or does it encompass too much? It seems that the scandals just keep popping up with the *cabinet. Rather than go on saying all of the "gates", a DUer from Germany, SittingBull, suggested the concept earlier today, in this thread:

A Cheney-Libby Conspiracy, Or Worse?

I agree and if SittingBull and others overseas feel we should combine all the scandals into one basic phrase this shows exactly how infamous our administration and it's crony scandals are becoming to other nations. I've spoken with a Canadian friend and one friend in Turkey, both seem to agree that there are too many to keep track of all the names.

My suggestion is "* Cabinet Scandals".

I'm sure many of you out there will have a better one.

I will post the suggestions as a poll sometime next week if we collect enough suggestions. I've never done a poll but am willing to learn.

Thanks to all and SittingBull!:)

Peace

Thanks CatShrink! On the list as "Culture of Corruption": parts 1 -5, if that works for you.

Edited on Sun Nov-06-05 08:50 PM by SalmonChantedEvening
By putting power and party above principle, sacrifing truth for political and personal gain, and using deception, fear and character assassination to instigate a war that need not have been waged, this administration has betrayed every principle they claimed they stood for in order to acquire and maintain power.

They have also betrayed this nation and it's people, not only those who are alive today, but generations yet unborn who will live under the shadow of distrust and hate engendered by their recklessness and greed.

3. I don't think "Cabinet" fits because many of the scandals involve
people who are not part of the cabinet. Seems like a Party wide scandal to me!

Maybe something like Partygate, or Repug-gate.

13. Good point napi21!
Wonder if we will need 2 polls to narrow it down! Some of the "gates" being listed are very good, thought I'd heard enough and along comes some new. Partygate isn't bad. Added to list.

Thanks,

This is by far worse and more widespread than any previous "gate." It needs to indicate that severity.

6. BushCon Scandal

Con as in Neo Cons.

IMO, we should not tie the scandal to the Republicans, better known as Regressives.

It needs to be clearly on the steps of the Neo Cons!

In order to make it real clear who has got to go, it should say Neo Con Scandal but I like Bush Con or BUSHCON Scandal.

16. Oh, that is a really great one goclark!
I recently saw PNAC mentioned in an article here from a lagrer media source, can't remember which one. You are so right about keeping the neocon name in it. Bush Con Scandal has a wonderful ring to it! maybe we should do one as PNAC Plan Scandal, or something close. Think it would stick?

Hope all is well in your world. Skeleton closets are opening my friend, don't you believe?!

Thanks,

I wonder if they'd start turning on their Dem co-conspirators if they all start to fall too much. It seems there could be a couple of dino's in on the action most likely too. It would explain some of their voting records!

41. Thank you and feel free to use it. When I used the term "neoconster" ...
... much earlier this year, in several posts at DU and elsewhere, I had never seen it used before. It just seemed to frame the PNAC crowd for the criminals that they are. Some folk have started using the term. Given my general lack of creativity, I'm sure someone thought of the term long before me, so if you find others claiming to have used it first, most likely they did.

Peace.

43. Hello lonestarnot
a warm welcome for the brainstorming session here on DU.
;)

Quite good to see someone with your standing here.

Let me try to explain why treasongate is not so good at all.

First: It's quite sure that their behaviour includes treason. But what's with wars, warmongery, torture, deception, lying, smearning, controlling etc.?

Second: I don't like ...gate. This gate bar none before. It will lead to nowhere out. ;)

Third: Treasongate doesn't indicate, who the criminals are. It's sure possibly, that the Reps-Deflection that the criminal behaviour, name it treason, was commited only of one single person, like Libby, will work.

It's for sure a criminal conspiracy, a cabal hack, the hijacking of everything that counts by a group unfettered by scruples.
Their methods include all possible crime that one can imagine.

Hope you get it, still have troubles to explain me in english.

The standing of which you speak is not applicable here, as we have no hierarchy on DU. Only gates will be the ones that hold ALL of them inside the prison (gate came from Watergate hotel, remember the dude Nixon?) And we all know who they are.
