Randi Rhodes: "You're a whiner."
Randi just went on a brilliant rant, transcribed word for word as follows:

“You’re a whiner. I get it from you. You’re not going to like this, but when you attack the only hope we have, which is the Democrats, because you don’t want to give money, because you’re putting your kids through school because you hate the public school system but you don’t want to volunteer to be on the school board, you don’t want to run for anything, you just want to bitch and moan: you are part of the Democratic problem, see?

"And I’m really tired of people complaining about the Democratic party. They have their flaws; they’re not perfect, but they are on the side of right and good, and if we can actually manage to get a free and fair election in the first-world country, then you’ll see the House of Representatives, at least, go to the Democrats. And once that happens, you will see articles of impeachment, and then you can call me back and kiss my ass. In public. In Macy’s window, which is just a little short walk from here.”

1. I liked when she said that.
Our Democrats have worked their butts off this week, and I am proud of them. Even though we have Democracy Bonds, we gave a little extra to show we backed them up.

That woman was not aware of what our Dems have been doing.

3. Most voters aren't
That woman was not aware of what our Dems have been doing.

Most people don't come anywhere near the interest level many on DU have. Add to that the fact that the "liberal media" doesn't cover anything about the closed session but Frist's reaction, how are most people supposed to know?

I see the caller's side and Randi's side. Maybe the caller's approach isn't the smartest action to take, but I certainly understand her frustration. You really have to have your finger on the pulse of politics to hear anything about Democrats. Of course, I'm in Texas, so maybe that has something to do with it...

Oh, one other thing: I disagree with Randi on the "Texas is a blue state" thing. That might be true for Austin, but it's far from the truth about Fort Worth and Dallas. My .02....

10. Well I'm glad for that
That's hilarious that even his "home" (not really) state is turning against him. Now if we could only get Utah...

25. I grew up in TX
She also mentioned that the state legislature was forever democratic until recently....no thanks to Delay's redistricting. It was his scheming, coupled with Rove sliming Ann Richards, that helped turn TX red.

They're trying to turn California red too. I'd cry if that happened.

5. If you're calling in to a radio show to shoot off your mouth...
you'd *better* have your facts in order.

If you have a vague feeling Democrats aren't doing enough because you can't be bothered to find out exactly what they *are* doing, maybe you ought to shut up.

17. Did she say that to the woman from VT?
I guess I misheard, I thought she said VT was a blue state while she was fussing at the woman for not taking part. I was cooking dinner, and may have missed part.

20. What about the one's who did support him but still say that? I'll never
support anyone without them earning it. That includes the democratic party, which used to earn my support on a regular basis.

28. What does it take to earn your vote?
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 12:33 PM by mzmolly
In order to earn mine, people would have to benefit from the policies of politician I vote for.

My friend who supported a third party candidate said the same thing in 2000.

Apparently, Gore did not EARN the votes of several people who voted instead for someone who never served in a day in public office.

:eyes: I guess I have a problem personally determining how an egomaniac trumps a public servant in the "earning votes" category?

As for Kerry "not fighting" he is fighting and he's doing so in a manner that can make an actual difference. See my thread in GD for specifics.

:hi:

29. He recieved my vote because Bush needs to go out. But if the circumstances
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 12:41 PM by Kralizec
were different, I probably would consider someone with standards and policy ideas like Kucinich. I also supported Dean.

I voted for Kerry out of necessity, but have never claimed him as "my" candidate.

edit: tenses

19. Thank you Randi!
Thank you for saying what needs to be said.

Dems are never going to get anywhere if they are looking for that perfect candidate. There isn't one.

Kinda like look for that perfect mate - newsflash - they don't exist, so you choose the one that you can live with, the one that reflects your beliefs, and the one that shows you respect.

Some people have been so busy whining that they couldn't hear what the Dems have done that has helped put Bush in the mess he's in.

27. "if we can actually manage to get a free and fair election ......"
You have had stolen elections in 2000, 2002 and 2004.
You have this malAdministration which is making no moves to change anything before 2006.
You have this maniac who has appointed his cronies into all areas which will ensure that this system stays in place till kingdom come - John Roberts and the coming Samuel A. Alito Jr., with the compliance of the Democrats...
You have a trillion dollar debt and another crony, Ben S. Bernanke, being appointed in place of Alan Greenspan (How many of you heard Bernie Sanders tear Greenspan to bits?)....
You have....

Randi is living in a fool's paradise.

She cannot even get one American, Jose Padila, to get a fair hearing in your democracy. While you sit in comfortable armchairs for tthe next ten years, maybe you should read this ruling:

The exceedingly important question before us is whether the President of the United States possesses the authority to detain militarily a citizen of this country who is closely associated with al Qaeda, an entity with which the United States is at war; who took up arms on behalf of that enemy and against our country in a foreign combat zone of that war; and who thereafter traveled to the United States for the avowed purpose of further prosecuting that war on American soil, against American citizens and targets.

"We conclude that the President does possess such authority pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force Joint Resolution enacted by Congress in the wake of the attacks on the United States of September 11, 2001. Accordingly, the judgment of the district court is reversed."

Treasonous Scooter Libby walks free (innocent till proven guilty) in your country while a US citizen (who is not even charged with a crime) stays in prison....

Remember the words of Pastor Martin Niemöller

'First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist, so I said nothing. Then they came for the Social Democrats, but I was not a Social Democrat, so I did nothing. Then came the trade unionists, but I was not a trade unionist. And then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did little. Then when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me.'

You cannot get an answer from Republicans or Democrat politicians to Cindy Sheehan's question as what is the "Noble Cause"......

Randi may be articulate and rant all she wants.

But Americans have been fast fast asleep at the wheel of their country for the last 7 years and they have thrown their democracy and their constitution into the garbage can. (See what is in your Patriot Act,....)

So forget your 2006 eklections as Randi correctly says "IF....."

She has her way out "IF...."
