Bush Pulling One Out of His Bag of Tricks
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 11:44 AM by Atman
CNN is reporting breaking news that the Bush Administration may be closing in on Saddam, and has credible reports of sightings near Tikrit and Baghdad.

"Credible" and "The Bush Administration" do not belong in the same room, let alone the same sentence. I think we are about to get a little October booster shot for Bush's flagging poll numbers. Will the Wal Mart Nation buy it one more time?

10. no, no, no, he's really Lord Lucan
Who disappeared in 1973, shortly before Saddam became well known on the international stage. Lucan was born in 1934; Saddam claims to have been born in 1937, but Lucan was notoriously vain, so might have shaved a few years off.
Lucan was wanted for the murder of his childrens' nanny (he is thought to have been trying to kill his wife). He has never been found.

Not convinced? Look at the photos:

11. That's great!
I'm very familiar with the Lord Lucan case, but had never noticed the striking resemblance.

2. Short answer: Yes.
Too many Americans are just ignorant (not necessarily stupid) and prefer to stay that way. See recent California recall election for evidence of same. No rational populace could contain 50% of voting population who would approve of Herr Bush - but the US does.

6. One definition of stupidity
is "willful ignorance". Another is "doing the something the same way and expecting a different result". Based on election results recently, I'm wondering which kind of stupid we Democrats are. I am so depressed.

4. this was hinted yesterday
in some news releases that saddam may be there..of course they knew he was there all the time. maybe it`s time to hand him his pink slip and send him on his way to where evil men go. then bush can strut his manhood and the masses will praise him for saving them.of course the next friday little dickie will say the sky is still falling and we will all praise him for his wisdom......same ole` shit just a new toliet.

5. What, and ruin his perfect record? He's batting 1000
No anthrax killer
no 911 convictions
no Osama (I don't even remember who he is and what he did :eyes:)
no energy papers
no Enron convictions
no economic boost
no peace in the Middle East
no honor and integrity returned to the WH
no chicken in every pot
no compassion in his conservatism
no intelligence in his military
no prescription drug bill
no health care reform
no white house leaker found

the list goes on.

I did exclude the fact that he, through asscrack found 8 prostitutes in the unlikely Big Easy and Tommy Chong is safely behind bars.

7. Sure, some will probably buy it...
...but, so what? Shrub is shooting his wad too early. If they kill Saddam (they won't catch him alive) Shrub will get a temporary bump in the polls. But just like when Uday and Qusay were killed the bump will be temporary. Unfortunatly the unrest in Iraq will continue, and people will still die. But the mis-administration will no longer be able to say "Saddam is directing some of it" or "The resistance wants Saddam back in power", or other similar figleafs.

The bump will be temporary. The poll numbers will soon continue their downward slide, and Shrub won't have the "we got Saddam" story to use when he needs a bump in the future.

14. replies to Shrub
Atman said: "...that's what Osama's for!"

Then we can say "With the most powerful and well funded military and intelligence community in the world, Shrub took three years to find a guy on dialysis living in a friggen cave."

If the Dems play their cards right Shrub can't really win. No matter what.

Shrub: We killed Saddam.
Us: So what? Does that change anything for our guys in Iraq.

Shrub: We found Osama/The Anthrax Killer/etc.
Us: That's nice. What took you so long?

Shrub: The economy is looking up.
Us: So what? That doesn't absolve you for putting it in the crapper for 3 years. BTW, what took you so long, and did you have to mangle the budget in the process?

8. By tomorrow, 60% of Americans believe Saddam Captured
and shot... By election time, a hugh percentage will also believe
that Osama has also been captured and dealt with. Of course the
vast majority of this 60% are FauxNews watchers.

15. We'll see
If Hussein is really caught (he has a lot of doubles, who might be deliberately out there as bait), I suppose the fool will get a temporary boost in the polls. Indeed, the White House will play it up as if Bush himself personally nabbed Hussein and courageously overcame great danger to catch him (the soldiers who caught him will be a footnote, or an afterthought). But if the attacks continue the second Bush honeymoon will end once again, and it will only reinforce the public sentiment that the job in Iraq is done and it is time for us to leave.
