I noticed the same thing with the Sherrod Brown ads, too.

the people in the ads on DU have orange faces!

Truly bizarre.

It makes them look sorta Ooompa-Loompaish. Now all they need is green hair and white eyebrows.

7. This might help
The SMPTE Color Bars are actually made for adjusting a Television monitor, a computer monitor works on slightly different technology, so don't worry if you can't make it perfect. If you have Cable T.V., flip around to see if you can find a channel with Color bars for comparison, their's almost always at least one rarely viewed channel with them.

(click the link above for a larger version with a Black background)

Use your monitor controls to adjust brightness and contrast.
The long bars should be gray, yellow, cyan, green, magenta, red, and blue.
While a thin gray frame surrounds the outside perimeter of the bars,
the transition from one bar to another should be sharp with no intermediary colors.

Pay special attention to the various levels of gray below the red bar.
You should see three distinct shades of gray there.
If, however, your system limits available colors, these shades of gray may not show.
