The coverage of the Argentine protests versus US protests pisses me off
When you consider how much time and attention the US press spent on the US protests that only recently went on (almost nothing except for repeated pictures of Cindy Sheehan getting hauled off smiling).

Of course, the demonstrations in the US are peaceful. Nothing like violence to grab corporate media for hours.

3. I agree. American protests are sorely lacking in violence.
Media doesn't care about peaceful people.

4. It's unfortunate isn't it?
I have this similiar argument all the time with people cause the organization I work for is considered too extreme in their media stunts. This is exactly why. The only way to get media coverage is to either have violence or sex/nudity.

If you keep in mind, most of the footage I remember from the 60's is the violent stuff.

5. Hey any Anti-Bush sentiment is good with me

Being a South American myself I have hated Chimpy for his imperialistic stance and disdain towards Latin America.

Perhaps the Anti-Bush media attention to foreign protesters will help mainstream US to realize that Cindy is right and start to support her.

8. Highlighting foreign protests appeals to the xenophobes back home,
reinforces the idea that it's the US against foreign enemies who wish us ill.

Media doesn't want to highlight protests at home that would suggest Bush isn't the darling of the American public with a "mandate." What little they show, and the way the media covers it, supports their storyline that only a few "radicals" oppose Administration policies.

Except for those dang polls that clearly show the opposite. But pictures and media spin are about creating the image, however false it may be.
