Republicans plan to cut 40,000 kids from school lunch programs
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 08:11 PM by BigBearJohn

Republicans plan to cut 40,000 kids from school lunch program to pay for ANOTHER tax cut in the next month

They're asking the poor to suck it up and do without because of those critical tax cuts for the wealthy, corporate welfare and a failing war of convenience are more important than food for the poor. How long before they change the child labor laws so the kids can go out and work for their food? Nice compassion and isn't it great to see that we're all in this together?

Don't believe me, read the article. The Republicans are planning on ANOTHER TAX cut in the next few weeks that will cost even MORE than the cuts to the poor and elderly that they're making today:

But some Republicans worry that social service cuts, though relatively small, might have outsized political ramifications, especially when Republicans move in the coming weeks to cut taxes for the fifth time in as many years. Those tax cuts, totaling $70 billion over five years, would more than offset the deficit reduction that would result from the budget cuts.

More details on the planned Republican attack on the poor, the elderly and children:

The battle will be joined today when the House Budget Committee is scheduled

BUT THE F'ING REPUKES **MUST** HAVE THEIR TAX CUTS :nuke: :puke:

5. Actually, GA's Saxby Chambliss was convinced by "faith-based"
organizations NOT to vote for cuts in food stamp programs because it isn't Christian.

4. I had a thought, Place a "class-action" against Halliburton
US taxpayers VS. Halliburton

Halliburton is charged with embezzlement of billions of US taxpayer money. The tax paying citizens of the US are suing for the return of these fund, interest on these funds, and additional damages.

3. They're accelerating their attacks on most Americans:
I guess they figure they don't have much time left in which to ruin the country.

Democrats need to be making big stinks about each and every GOP attrocity. Get the band playing the tune to frog-march the GOP out of power in 2006!

7. And we're supposed to surprised by this?
Sorry, BigBear, I live in Missouri, the land of Blount, Jr. Our kids, low-wage earners, seniors and disabled have already gotten their noses rubbed in the dirt by these "compassionate conservatives". Anything else coming down the pike to cause our most disenfranchised citizens harm will no longer surprise me....

34. Isn't it amazing he got elected?
I have to say I thought he would loose. Here you have a spoiled man who has never had to go out and get a real job, worry about real problems yet we elect him. I thought our state would be smarter then elect someone who has just ridden his daddies coattails his whole life.

13. This is ridiculous!!!
I hope people realize what they're doing! Of course this won't be reported in any of the "media". Ugh! So all we can do is word of mouth. I betcha if Georgie for one year tries it and puts all those tax cuts into programs that need money such as this things will start to change. But of course he won't do that since he's nothing more than a coprorate whore who can go to hell!

Their teachers and lunch aides. But then with this administration, it is their own fault. You go into a profession to GET RICH, not because you care about other people.

16. Don't you know? Teachers should be women married to wealthy
men. Her job would just be something to do while the kids are at school. The money is just a "nice second income" to be used at her discretion.

21. She did and they did
They were the deciding votes.
They could have swung it the other way by a vote of 51-49 and didn't.
I guess its a moot point anyway...if it had passed they would have just twisted enough arms to change it anyway.

31. I'm Beyond words to describe how disgusted and angry I feel about this!
You are absolutely right...there are so many children in this country who quite literally, the only meal they get is that free lunch...

I'm so sick about what is going on, I can hardly stand it...I'm also having a sense of guilt and shame because I am one of the beneficiaries of the Bush tax cuts and have the luxury of living in an area where the kids will never even know what it means to go to bed hungry, and when I think of the fact that I am getting tax breaks and that the GOP and this administration think its more important for me to get that break than it is for these kids to eat.....I just am so disgusted and beyond words....

 :grr:  :grr:

32. the New Deal and the Great Society are being systematically . . .
dismantled by BushCo . . . programs that benefit the poor and middle class are all at being taken apart, piece by piece, while the whole notion of progressive taxation (which served us well for many years) has been shitcanned altogether . . .

BushCo is Robin Hood in reverse -- take from the poor, and give to the rich . . . and it's thoroughly disgusting . . .
