2. It's not what he told the grand jury.
It's that he gave Patrick Fitzgerald some last minute proof that he didn't tell someone about Valerie Plame shortly after he learned about her, which supposedly proves he didn't tell anyone else.

3. It was up to Fitz
My understand is that he did not seek an indictment against Rove because of his new testimony. So Rove did not get the grand jury off his back; he just delayed Fitz from seeking an indictment. What he said to Fitz is unknown. No leaks, remember?

4. supposedly, he showed them an email trail
that suggested that he had forgotten a conversation he had denied having. i.e., suggesting that when he denied it to the grand jury, he wasn't lying, but had merely forgotten.

but the explanation i think is more likely is that fitz simply wanted the sword of damocles to remain hanging over rove's head.

7. I think it had to do with meeting someone--and that he did not mention
Plame's name---proving the Plame was not on his mind. Sorry but I forgot who that 'someone' was.
It was on DU posts a few times.

5. Rove told the grand jury if they indicted him, he would begin a......
smear campaign on each and every one of the grand jury members.
