Shouldn't Dan Abrams Recuse himself from reporting about PlameGate?
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 06:56 PM by KoKo01
His father represented Judy Miller and shouldn't we wonder what interest he has with "family loyalty" when he decides to report on PlameGate knowing that his Dad was so "heavily involved" in all of this?

He was on talking about the case tonight with "Victoria Toensing" and others about "What it all Means."

"What it ALL Means is important to Dan" because it's what his Dad leaves him in his Will.

10. Dan's "cousin" is Elliot Abrams? Isn't Elliot kind of Old for that?
Or, have their been "trophy wives" meaning that "little Dan" somehow is related somewhere that "Old Elliot" is a Cousin? :eyes:

Any links? Not asking you to to geneaology here.. but that's a big surprise in some ways to me. Incest?

13. There was a thread on it a few days ago here. Dan said Elliott was
his cousin as a matter of disclosure when he was reporting on indictments during other WH scandals.

I never knew it and don't believe Dan ever disclosed it in previous reporting on Bush's advisors.

14. Thanks...it's hard to understand....but as we know ..they are ALL Related
in some way. That's how they all get jobs between Lobbying, Govt. and Media. It's a great carousel. Round and Round we go....and where it stops nobody knows. :-(

3. Of course. As should Russert, Tweety, etc. , etc. , etc.
But then do you really expect professionalism and ethics in American journalism?

still trying to say that Valerie Wilson was NOT undercover? Is she still maligning the Wilsons? Or what is her new lie?

7. Dan's father, Floyd Abrams, is THE First Amendment lawyer.
For example, he represented Al Franken when he got sued by Fox News; he was involved in the Pentagon Papers case; and he has done a lot of other good work on OUR side. Floyd is one of the good guys, notwithstanding what we may think of Judith Miller.

11. He did indeed "USED TO BE" one of the Good Guys. I guess "Guns for
Hire" can wear either white hats or black these days...or maybe in any time. :eyes:

Still...having so much "nepotism in DC" is starting to worry folks.

How does one really know where "loyalty and family blood ties end" and "Truth and Law and Honor" begins.

Seems like it's all one Big Happy Family inside the Beltway while the rest of us are out in the cold.

9. When (and why) did Floyd Abrams stop being Judy Miller's attorney?
I've been curious about that - anyone know the story?

15. I may have this wrong but I think Floyd Abrams is a constitutional lawyer
And the one she ended up needing was a criminal defense lawyer. That is the way I understood it.

Makes sense.

It seems we need the media whores people to wear placards (or sandwich boards in some cases) explaining who they are related to. Example: Daryn Kagan's should read "I am Rush Limbaugh's current girlfriend"

Floyd Abrams is an honorable man. I have noted before on DU that during the second trial of my friend Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, the prosecution called on NY Times reporter Selwyn Raab. The Times hired Abrams. He could have easily kept Raab off the stand at that time, and there were plenty of discussions about it. Selwyn decided that he would testify. Abrams was entirely respectful: like the best of attorneys, he laid out the options, and let the client exercise self-determination.

When the son covered this aspect (Miller's appeal)of the case, he always noted that his father played a significant role. As far as the toxic guests go, they have been on virtually every other cable news show, peddling their lies.

As far as the idea that he might (or is) related to Eliot Abrams, I'm not sure that even if true, it means anything. We all have relatives.

12. I drives me nuts, too, KoKo.
It's like he is so full of himself that he doesn't see any problem with his reporting on it. He has mentioned the fact that his daddy represented the great American treasonist Judy Miller, but duh....
