5. Nobody ever wants a speedy trial.
They just don't. Every time a defendant makes a motion for anything, it kicks the trial beyond the date required of the statute, so they waive the deadline in order to get relief.

Anyone who demands a speedy trial just puts the prosecutors office into a fire drill...which it can do, given it's unlimited resources.....and the prosecutors are ready before the defendant. After all, the prosecutors are 95% ready for trial before the GJ is asked for an indictment.

7. My guess is his legal team is all paid for by some billionaires
and apparently are the best that money can buy. He doesn't care if this goes on forever.

8. Lawence O'Donnell
was on the Franken show this morning. He said scooter is stinking rich & can afford the best defense. That means he also has the money to spin this out as long as possible.

through donations. If he can't afford his team, maybe he should go with a public defender.

I read it here http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/02/AR2005110203276.html

I wonder who's right? The Washington Post or Lawrence O'Donnell. I guess it doesn't matter. Either scooter is depleting his bank account or he's begging from friends. Either way works for me.
