A Binka and Ben Update..

Hi again,

Thank you all for your continued prayers, thoughts and awesome support.. our Family @ DU Rocks!!!

Binka sends her Love and all the Best from Bethesda! The Great News is that Ben is doing Wonderfully!!! Ben's recovery and healing are incredible. The good news is that Ben doesn't have a fractured femur... all Bones are Good to Go. His right leg is still really banged up, but at least all wounds are closed and healing. His right calf took the brunt of the impact and it is still about 3 x's the size of his left leg. His left arm is pretty scarred up, but his range of motion is almost back. Ben still has a good amount of rehab work to do there. They were trying to get him up and about, but the wounds are still really fresh and tender and it will be awhile. Binka has been great and taking him out for some high-speed wheelchair adventures, a few drags, and some non-hospital coffee! Mom is exhausted, but is on hi-energy supply when she is with Ben just hanging out, talking, reading... just being there. What else can you ask for, knowing that you don't have to say a word and everything else in the world doesn't really matter for those moments.

As I am sure you've been following the senseless Shiite going on over in Iraq, they are trying to make room for the newly wounded to get from Germany to Bethesda, at the expense of those who still require a bit more care before moving on.... Some psych MD strolled into Ben's room and started spewing shit that Oh... there are some new rehab programs at VA hospitals in Virginia that we can send you to as an In-Pat..where by Binka said in her own style... WTF, Ben can't even walk or put pressure on his right leg, and you think you are going to send him as an In-pat to a VA... NFW... he will stay here until he is sent out for rehab back in Minnesota. It is the least the govt can do since they were the one's responsible for this Cluster Screw in Iraq and getting our Men and Women wounded and KILLED... FUCK YOU George, Dick, Rummy, Condi... I'd love to package y'all up .. put you in cami's and drop you ALL IN Center Square Ramadi... Let's see what your talk and walk would be then... SORRY End of RANT! Exhale... Breathe... Wheeeewww...

Ben is getting his Purple Heart today at the hospital. The Big Marine Kahuna is suppose to do the " Honor "... mixed emotions here, but Ben has certainly earned the respect associate with that.

It looks like he may be going back to Minn in a couple of or three weeks to begin his rehab, so that is a positive. He is alive and mentally doing ok under the circumstances. Oh yeah, Binka told me today that his Buddy Hinkhouse (Got his leg blown off and scrapnel to the frontal lobe) is out of his coma and can't remember a thing and was asking the MD if Ben would fill him in on what happened. The MD asked Ben, and Ben really stepped up and said not a problem, what every Hink needs, he's my bud! The MD's were very grateful, especially when Binka suggested to Ben that he write it down so Hinkhouse could take that with him as he goes through the stages of anger, lose and grief. all necessary for healing. Ben was right on it and thought that was a Great Idea.

Well, that's all for now. I wanted to keep you all posted and say Thank you all again for all of your Love and Support! It really has made a huge impact on Ben's recovery, and our Family's Peace of Mind!
