Ronnie Earle - Loneliest Job in the World?
So I want to ask your help in sending some encouragement to Ronnie Earle.

If you have something supportive to say to Ronnie, or just want to thank him for his efforts to prosecute public malfeasance, will you post it here? I know someone who sees him fairly regularly and I will make sure he gets your notes.

It must be dispiriting to try to prosecute someone like Tom DeLay in these times and in Texas.

Earle has limited resources and is bound by both the truth and the rules of jurisprudence. DeLay has unlimited resources and is bound by nothing - - he says anything that suits him, and he makes his own rules.

DeLay and the Republicans continue a strident campaign against Earle, while Earle should not and does not rant against the defendant.

While Austin is more blue than the rest of the state, it is by no means DARK blue, and is probably about half and half Democrat and Republican. Travis County, the jurisdiction in question, is more conservative than Austin, the city.

The political establishment in Texas is completely and totally Republican, and they will bring everything they have to bear against our elected DA.

I expect this case will be hard to win, not because of lack of evidence, but because all the powers that be are arrayed against Earle and his pursuit of justice, and every trick in the book will be used to get DeLay off - - as usual.

Yesterday's outrageous precedent of removing a judge of long-standing probity, honesty and fairness indicates to me how difficult this case is going to be.

Not only is Earle the subject of repeated character assassination, you can be sure than his physical safety, as well as that of his family, has been threatened, too. I can't even imagine living under that kind of stress.

Will you help me try to give Ronnie Earle and his family a sense of what his integrity and courage means to you?

Thank you.

1. Keep your chin up, Mr Earle
Keep smiling. It'll make the Delay defense team wonder what you're up to.

7. Thanks, Bumblebee!
And Ronnie's smile is real - - not the skull's grin frozen on Tom DeLay's mug in the courtroom.

10. The reason I didn't give a FAX number or email address is that Republicans
have tied up his machines for weeks now with service attacks, rendering them useless.

That's one of the lovely things that unlimited resources and no morals can accomplish.

I can have your posts handed to Ronnie by a real-live friend, which means that he will be sure to see them.

Thanks.

12. That is the tactic
the Phelps clan uses. No surprise there!

Mr. Earle keep it up. You have a lot of support across the country. Don't let them get to you. Something tells me that you won't. You are much better than that. Good luck to you, you have my best thoughts and wishes.

What a nice offer, though, and isn't that a sad commentary?

6. As a grateful Texan, I can't thank you enough Mr. Earle!
The only way we will ever rid ourselves of the stench of GOP corruption in this state is by not abandoning the fight for law, justice and fairness - no matter what the long odds and difficulty. I don't know too many folks who could withstand the storm of opposition whipped up by DeLay and his minions.

DeLay and his henchmen are the absolute worst thing to happen to my beloved state, and they have infected the rest of the USA with their poison as well. If we can't stop them here in TX, we won't ever be able to stop them anywhere!

Thank you Mr. Earle. You have one helluva fight ahead of you, but know there are millions of Texans (and other Americans) who will be so grateful if you can begin to rescue us from the cesspool that DeLay is drowning us in.

We are all rooting for you and counting on you.
Godspeed and good luck to you, sir.

11. Dear Mr. Earle,
You are doing a great job. Though it may feel as if you are stranded in a sea of viscious, unprincipled lies and innuendo (which, apparently, you are), I assure you that the eyes of America are upon you, and the huge majority of us support you 100% as you make your case against this despicable man.
We can only be with you in spirit, most of us, but please know it is a strong and heartfelt spirit that sends you encouragement and the deepest possible gratitude.
All best wishes to you, your family, and your staff,
Sandy

14. Note to Mr Earle
Thank you sir. You have indeed shown me that this country can work if given the time. I just wanted to tell you that you have tens of thousands of us watching your back and hoping you can bring the corruption of Mr Delay to a screeching halt.
This man needs to go. Hes the epitomy of an arrogant , sleazy politician who is soiling our once honorable Congress. Thank you and dont forget, we have your back.
